Ok we all have our favorite movies....but here's a poll with a twist.
Name your favorite movie.......that you could watch with your wife or significant other, Ben Aflack movies excluded by default.
Mine is High Fidelity. I'm a big John Cusak fan and this moive is just a good movie all around.

the second one I LOVED but my wife hated cause she's not that bright.

I guess it's a guy movie then...

Most anything with John Wayne. Wife doesn't much like such movies, but she'll watch them. My arm is usually numb from her falling asleep on it before the movie is halfway over.
We mutually fell asleep watching 'Citizen Kane'--in the middle of the day. To date it is the ONLY movie I have ever fallen asleep from watching due to sheer boredom; it's probably the most over-rated film ever. I feel it's only considered "good" because of the hard-on most critics seem to have for Welles.
I feel I'm fortunate in that my wifey will not only watch, but LIKE, movies like 'Evil Dead' and 'Mad Max'. I've also been trying to introduce her to various '80's movies which she has somehow never seen.

After a quick IMDB search I'd say one I liked more than I thought was Three to Tango. Neve Campbell's character is a free spirited artist...much like my girlfriend. Matthew Perry is just funny when he is surrounded by calamity and mistaken to be a gay guy.
That and "Nice guys sleep alone" which is a dating advice type movie full of advice. I thought there were some funny things there...for instance how a woman's mother will always call when she wants off the phone :lol
-
been buggin' mah' woman to sit down and watch "the Maltese Falcon" w/ me.

Club Paradise...one of the funniest movies evar.

The Quiet Man

Super Troopers is far superior to Club Dread, btw.

Night vision footage of Eagl's cars

Gotta agree with MiniD on this one. The Quiet Man must be the Duke's best.
"Here's a good stick to beat the lovely lady."
And Barry Fitzgerald's horse team trained to stop at the pubs makes the movie.

yes but is this a movie that both you and your wife/significant other would enjoy?

We watch it every St. Patricks day. When you think about it, the woman gets 'Trooper' Thornton to fight for her, and she gets her way.

Ground Hog Day
Dr. Strangelove

"Maybe I finally found it, way down here in the mud. Maybe from down here I can start up again, be something I can be proud of, without having to fake it, be a fake human being."
"Well, here I am, anonymous all right. With guys nobody really cares about. They come from the end of the line, most of 'em. Small towns you never heard of: Pulaski, Tennessee; Brandon, Mississippi; Pork Van, Utah; Wampum, Pennsylvania. Two years' high school's about it, maybe if they're lucky a job waiting for them back at a factory, but most of 'em got nothing. They're poor, they're the unwanted, yet they're fighting for our society and our freedom. It's weird, isn't it? They're the bottom of the barrel and they know it. Maybe that's why they call themselves grunts, cause a grunt can take it, can take anything. They're the best I've ever seen, Grandma. The heart & soul."

That reminds me.. I made the wife watch "A Bridge Too Far" and after over three hours of boredom she ended up angry that the British were forced to withdraw... I tried to explain to her that the name of the movie was "A Bridge Too Far" and that there was not going to be a happy ending. She never forgave me for that.

Boondock Saints
The Sopranos (that took us awhile, every episode, every season on DVD).
The Cube (all 3 of them, but the second one kinda sucks)
-
Vanilla Sky.
The plot twists and surprises are extraordinary. It's one of the few Tom Cruise movies I truly enjoy. The first time you watch it you will spend 3/4 of the film trying to figure out what's going on. There are so many clues to the plot twist that I can watch it over and over. Cinematography is absolutely breath taking. Fine performances all around. The original Italian film "Open Your Eyes" was just as good (in some ways better) but very different. From the onset it appears to be a chick flick-it is not. My wife enjoys it but many women I have talked to felt cheated by the surprise ending. It also has an awesome soundtrack.
-
Any of the films in the Lord of the Rings Series...
Martin Luther (either the old or the new version)
The Razor's Edge
The Hiding Place
Ran
Yojimbo
But in other respects I'm very blessed - my wife's favorite mini-series was "Band of Brothers" and she's never walked out on a decent war movie. She even liked Shaun of the Dead. It balances out though, because on the other hand, I'm willing to sit through almost any movie version of a Jane Austen novel.
-
Galaxy Quest was such a funny movie.
"My God, that is sooooooooooo wrong"
I know why you liked the 5th Element.
Mystery Alaska? was that the movie with the guy from american graffity? Toad? Send to document the wolfs and caribu?
