Cindys supporters and fans overwhelm me, really (http://www.sweetness-light.com/archive/mother-sheehans-book-signing/)

This is the longest 14 minutes and 59 seconds ever.

Fully PWnED1!
(Although, I sympathize with her loss)

Do a reuters search and see if you can find that pic. I couldn't.

She has a sad life. I really feel sorry for her. Especially considering how the anti-war movement tards used her and her son's tragedy....

Not too Damning, but: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/photo/2005/11/26/PH2005112600901.html
Reuters, Washington Post, and almost any other news source fails to mention it. This would lead you to think that they wouldn't dare post news that goes against Sheehan.

Here's a news story with a couple of pic's.

The number of attendees is between "dozens" and "nearly 200" depending on the source.

Well, its all good that she's actually been exposed as why she did all this...
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
-
I'm wondering how you draw that conclusion Rip.
-
Logically obvious Sandman. Note the use of the cheap plastic table and bic pens. Low overhead. She just wants that big money you can get from camping out and protesting...
-
Yeah, I'm betting there's big money to be had by going with a startup publisher as well.

Moral Ethics course from the left:
Hey, its America, why not cash in on the anti-American protesting over the body of her dead son, its not like he's going to do anything about it...
-
That's odd Sandy. I did a general search on WashingtonPost about Sheehan, and came up with nothing recent.
I then searched Politics, and the US section. Neither came up with it.
Odd that it's placed in the middle east section...

Only because you're paying too much attention to Sheehan. ;)

I don't believe Sandman, A.)ever got an answer to his question about how she is being exposed for money grubbing....I mean what a great plan....have the US invade on manipulated intelligence, then have your son sent over and killed in this war and then cash in on it...wow, brilliant!,
and B.) how is she Anti-American?
I don't agree with her views and I think her son's death has led her to her opinions (which everyone has their own personal reactions to a loved-one's untimely death), but I don't think she is against Americans.
Unless you count the most American of traits as being Anti-American, and that is the trait to disagree with and voice your opinion about what your elected, representative government is doing, whether it be a war on foreign soil or even something as local as opposing city ordinances.
I mean, wasn't it that trait that started this whole USA ball rolling some 200 odd years ago??

And pretty much summarizes my feelings and the situation exactly.
She was used like a mere pawn. They propped her up and milked her tragedy dry, and then some. And now that shes served their purpose they leave her out to dry in the cold wind of indifference

hmmm..my only two comments in this thread are about her fifteen minutes of fame lasting a LONG time. Personally I agree with Bodhi, she got the "yellow pages treatment" by the anit war crowed.
Unless when you said "your're paying to much attention" you were in fact referring to my "people".
Sandy I'm shocked, what a bigoted racist thing to say. ;)
-
Yes, she is very clearly still distraught about what happened.

OMG she smiled!
Shoot her!
.........and BTW Stringer sounds like a lefty to me :)
-
LOL.
IMHO, Sheehan is just another shrill harpy. I suspect that most if not all of the people that showed up in Crawford for the "demonstration" probably don't have jobs.
-
Just sayin', every picture I've ever seen of her, the only one where she's not smiling is the book signing. I geuss I'd have alittle more sympathy for her if she didn't seem to get so much enjoyment out of being used by the anti-war movement.
-
I don't think she is resonating.
Still, if you like her, you like her.
If you want to abandon Iraq, I guess you like her. Or maybe you identify with other liberal positions...
I don't care for her, and I don't think she speaks for her son. Her son. The one who sacrificed, who's wishes she ignores. The one she is springboarding from, for better or worse. Am I wrong that her primary support comes from the "Progressives" and from others who are from outside the country, like Gnash? If so, why doesn't her family come 'round. Why do they reject her?
-
I'm all for abandoning Iraq, but Sheehan never resonated with me.
-
She is out there on the idiot fringe... putting her up as a symbol of liberalism just to attack liberalism is like putting Pat Robertson up as a symbol for conservatism....
Oh wait..... nevermind.
:O

Why not both?
To me she seems more like someone who cares more about getting attention for herself than she does about her son.
As I've said before she was a nut case before her son died and she hasn't gotten any better afterwards.

Her son is dead. This just in.

How would you know? I can't recall any media attention given to Sheehan while her son was alive.

Must be that danged liberal media at it again...
A note from her publisher:
Dear Friends,
As publisher of Cindy Sheehan's new book, Not One More Mother's Child, I need to set the record straight about a lie circulating right-wing websites that has even made it onto amazon.com.
I donated 100 copies of Not One More Mother's Child to Crawford Peace House, encouraging them to sell these copies to benefit their work. During her Thanksgiving Vigil near President Bush's ranch, Cindy agreed to sign copies for those who bought them, as a benefit for Crawford Peace House. AP and Reuters posted photos – I can't imagine why – of Cindy sitting at the book table between signings, rather than while someone was at the table. And now the smear websites are circulating an article, with these photos, that Cindy gave a signing and nobody came. It's simply not true! She not only signed all 100 copies and raised $2,000 for Crawford Peace House, she got writer's cramp!
These kinds of lies helped defeat Senator McCain in 2000 and Senator Kerry in 2004. The right has been trying to humiliate and "Swift-Boat" Cindy since she helped galvanize the peace movement in August. It is important to set the record straight. Cindy's book, Not One More Mother's Child, is being very well received nationwide, and the benefit booksigning in Crawford Texas on November 26, 2005 was well attended and a huge success.
Thank you.

Well, we can be sure the publisher didnt post that out of concern that the book might tank if the impression gets out that nobody is reading it or interested. No, that publishers statement wouldnt be that self-serviing, I am sure he isnt concerned about losing money. Like heck.
-
lol, "she signed all 100 copies" but they didn't mention how many they sold, if any.
"took pictures between signings". What are those empty chairs for? Maybe they had scheduled signing times because there were so many people they couldn't manage them all at one time.
It probably would have looked even worse if they had taken pictures durinf the "signings, cause I'll bet that no more than a few people where ever there at one time.
The publisher is funny, yet stupid.

She was an activist before her son died....tap tap ...hello have you not been paying attention?
They have shown home videos of her at demonstrations long before her son died so you can't say her behavior was only caused by his death.
BTW just because the media didn't cover her before her son died doesn't mean she wasn't a nut case.
-
I guess that also means people are wrong when they accuse her of using her son's death for publicity. Seems to be established that she has been the same nutcase all along.

Seems to be a trend lately, if you don't agree with the majority, you are classified as anti American

I'm not defending her. I'm questioning perceptions of Sheehan. She may truly be nothing more than a money grubbing bint, but saying so without any evidence whatsoever doesn't make it so.
-
I feel bad for her and her family. She lost her son. I dont know whether she is being manipulated by the politics or if she is a willing participant, in any event, I would hate to see the mission her son died for being abandoned before it can be completed. The mission to stabilize Iraq can succeed, if we allow it to.

Hi Sixpence, et al,

I hear this kind of statement quite a bit these days, and I must confess I am struggling to understand it.
It usually follows statements along the lines of "America is on the wrong track, we torture, we wage agressive war, we have created and secretly funded terrorism for political gain. We are the world's greatest terrorists" or "America is a nasty imperialist nation founded by war-mongering slave-owning heterosexist misogynistic white males." These statements often follow a course of "Yes, I support the aims and struggle of self-proclaimed enemies of the USA, but don't you dare accuse me of not being patriotic!"
I find myself scratching my head, because I wonder what then is anti-American or unpatriotic behavior? I fear it has become a category without meaning. One person can make statements on Al Jazeera designed to inflame hatred against the USA and be quite open about desiring the downfall and destruction of the "great Satan" while someone in the United States can say essentially the same thing and then protest loudly that they are an American patriot.
Does Patriotism simply consist of being able to exercise your right to freedom of speech regardless of what the content of that speech is? Is to be "American" simply to exercise the rights granted to all citizens? To me it all seems as meaningless as the statements by men and women attacking the Christian faith root and branch, but then loudly proclaiming that they are Christians. The label ceases to have any coherent meaning at that point.
So then, is "American" an entirely subjective reader-defined term, meaning whatever we want it to? After I (godwilling) become an American, may I spend all my time viciously attacking everything that America does and promoting her avowed enemies and then claim I am a "patriotic American?" If Cindy Sheehan is an American patriot, then is George Galloway an American Patriot too? After all, they are basically saying the same things.
Can I be Tokyo Rose and an upstanding Pro-American at the same time?
Hopelessly confused about how this "patriotism" thing differs from unbridled freedom of expression.
