Title: CH HOTAS HELP <begging>
Post by: KdF on November 28, 2005, 11:15:58 AM
I give up. I have spent the last week trying to hook up the CH Combatstick 568 , Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals USB in this game and have failed  each time. I bought these near a year ago , and finally hooked them up. I have installed the utility , tried combining , separating , individually etc , etc to get these sorry (*^&^$&*^()* things to work , but alas , I be screwed.

Does anyone have this equipment and have a map???

Could you e-mail me at KdF@austin.rr.com with it so I can try it out??

:furious

Nothing I enter in the utility stays. Most of the hats , axis`s are not seen , downloaded or not. every time I try it out in the game the guns start firing. The toe brakes do not work , the throttle does not register , I could go on , but I am going to toss this garbage out the window here pretty soon so I won`t have to worry with computer games any longer.

Also the utility does not recoginise a keypad for squat.

Wait....I see a window that needs opening...................

OK, so Windoze "sees" the controllers but they dont work properly in AH? You said you installed the CH software, when you did that did Windoze do the whole "Found new hardware" thing?

Go into stick setup and configure stick/throtle/pedals individually.

Its can be very agrivating if you are not familiar with how the set up actually works. If you need help I can go on line and walk you through it.

KDF,

Ive got the full setup... its strange getting it installed right.. many threads on here about it so do a search.

You have to reboot about 4 times and it keeps detecting new hardware each time. Its a PITA but once installed you'll be happy.

If not SkyChimp is looking for a CH setup...see Hardware & Software section :)>

I don't even use CH Manager for AH.  You can just assign everything in AH using Joystick Setup.

The only reason I use the CH software is that if the controlers are mapped you can unplug them, put them back, and you dont lose your map. If you set them in AH, then remove them, then plug them back you have to reset everything in AH again.

Also, I havent done it yet, but with the CH software you can make Macro's. :D

Sent you the map I use in Aces High....using control manager.

Once you understand how to program the various functions for the buttons throttle etc.  It's very easy.  Also there is a help section for control manager that translates keyboard keys to what you need to enter for your HOTAS setup button and slider functions.

Everything works fine on mine.  Been a LONG time but seems like I had to select each axis or button and apply it before assigning functions.

I have all three plugged into a powered hub with no reason to ever remove one.  I think I should be able to restore everything by reinstalling my saved "settings" folder if this should ever occur.

I have used CH manager for other more complex jet sims and it works great once you figure it out.  I found it much easier to modify someone else's maps from CH HANGAR.

I do so thank everyone for the help.
After disecting other peoples maps , I finally have mastered the art of copy.
Now I at least have a semi-working HOTAS for AH.

I also believe that , whomever wrote the Instructions for the Control Manager , has no actual concept of real people.

Thanks again y`all.:aok

in the CH control manager software, if you want to map keypad keys, you need to manually type kp in front of the number so like if you wanted an up view you would enter kp5. The kp in front of the number makes it register as a keypad key. What I did is just assign the AXIS's in the game...remember to press "Set input"!! I did everything else with keyboard commands mapped to my joystick. I didnt bother with trying to map joystick keys directly to in game actions.
