Title: Need some addiction advice
Post by: nirvana on November 28, 2005, 04:53:01 PM
Sugar.  It does nothing for me anymore.  I can drink 5 or more sodas in one night and nothing happens.  No sugar rush, no caffeine high, nothing.  Have i gone too far?  Am I addicted to natures crack?

I've never noticed a "sugar rush" from anything. IMHO, it's a wive's tale.

As for caffeine... Jolt was the only softdrink that I ever noticed the caffeine.

Where has thou Jolt gone.  They used to sell it at 7-11 but now it's gone.  Too many people flipping on caffeine and going insane?

No because if I took Ritalin I would be in a near vegetative state almost my whole day, not good.  Yes, I am THAT calm at school.

Ya just HAD to drink the stuff. All the sugar, twice the caffine. It's BAD for ya! Great marketing!

I still have a Jolt neon sign I talked them out of in the 90's.

Beer is healthier than soda. Cheaper the better is the way to go!

The "diet" on the label of the soda you have been drinking means it contains no sugar.  The 'Free' means no caffine.

Stop drinking this stuff.

I had a monster 20 minutes before entering the Warped Tour this year, it had no effect whatsoever.  Diet I won't drink because it's just as bad as regular yet tastes worse.

And beer still sucks.

Sugar isn't really that addictive as carbohydrates are.  Takes a couple weeks to get used to limiting them.

carbohydrate - any of various chemical compounds of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, such as sugars, starches, and cellulose.   Sugars and starches are the most efficient source of food energy. Stored in the muscle and liver as glycogen and in the blood as glucose.

Sugar = Carbohydrate

The problem with Sodas is that the sugars that you get from them don't break down that well.  If I beleived in conspiracy theories I'd say that you are adicted to the high fructose corn suryp before anything else.

OOOOH right on the dot Gun, sugar does have a cell that cant be broken down, which is why splenda, nutrasweet, sweet n low bla bla are good, despite the rumors of danger they possess. If im not mistaken spelnda is sugar with that one part removed so it can be broken down. Doesnt taste that bad in my opinion either.

You have to look at a larger time frame, lets say what happens 3 hours after or since you have been consuming this much on a regular basis, how does it affect your weekly habits, monthly habits,  your weight, heart rate, blood pressure, you know the vitals!

quit drinking the sodas and pound the water instead.

once your heart starts to recovers hit the gym 3 times a week

take it easy at first and work your way into a routine for a few years.

This will probably land you a few dates.

Once the gym doesn't challenge you anymore go see a Marine Recruiter.  He will also help you with that dark mess on the top of your skull that you call a hair cut.

This will probaly land you a few more dates and give you the courage to have a purpouse in life.  ;)

Are you trying to say i'm fat?  I'll have you know i'm 6 foot 2 180LBS.  I may be out of shape but in no way am I fat.  I climb ladders and walk around 6-8 hours a day when I work which is about 3 days a week.  As well as that I have to carry somewhat heavy stuff.  Ranging from the light (toaster ovens) to the heavy (dyson vacuums) off of top shelves.  High frutose corn syrup rules!!

P.S. What happens if you drink 2 Monsters in a row?  I could only stand 14 ounces of the 16 ounce can before it started tasting like Red Bull.

I've drank Monster. It tastes better than Red Bull. Never tried two in a row. Need to try that one.

The new Mountain Dew energy drink isn't bad. Most don't really have any effect on me though unless I drink 3 or 4.

I just take my Concerta-E (ritalin clone, extended release) like I'm supposed to.

the bummer news nirvava is the older you get the less and less effect things like caffine have.

for me caffine only does one thing. stops the HORRIBLE headache i get by 9AM if i DONT have any :rofl

as for sugar, i think that goes away really young too. hell i hate sweets now. i can barely eat cake with thick frosting, it is WAY too sweet and tastes disgusting. even plain chocolate tastes nasty to me.

I have heard that studies are being done to find a possible link to caffine consumption and nerve function later in life.  Also a possible link to Alziemhers.(spellcheck)  It has been already proven to affect how well insulin breaks down glucose I believe.

I should say that I am a heavy consumer of caffine!  So I really have no room to talk!  2 to 3 pots a day of Maxwell House!  It's good to the last drop, you know!

I drank 11 cups of coffee in 1 hr. That was only time caffine ever hyped me up more than I already am.

Don't worry Sandy, i'd go AF before i'd go Marines.

I don't really care about caffeine I don't recall ever getting the jitters from it.  If I lay off most sugar for a month I can get a sugar high but the tolerance builds at an extremely fast pace.

Actually I saw a report on TV that told of a study recently done with Sugar and artificial sweeteners done on rats.

One group of rats were given sugar and another group were given the various artificial sweeteners.
It showed the rats that had eated the sweeteners consistantly ate twice as much food as the rats that were given plain sugar.

Though they admit they do not know if this has the same effect on humans.
