Title: User submitted aircraft 3d models
Post by: g00b on November 30, 2005, 02:08:18 PM
I'm a fair 3D modeler and I'd love to be able to create aircraft for Aces High. Especially now with the air racing league. I know the FM's would still have to be created/tweaked by HTC but why not use all resources available to you?

Thanks!

Well, they can't just accept 3rd party models.  Every single model in game needs to be made a specific way using specific programs.

Even then it needs to be made to HT standards.

It's just easier for HT staff to do it.

That's what they used to say about skins. It's just silly to dis-allow help from willing parties. I can model in Alias, 3D Studio, Rhino, Solidworks, etc... I'm sure I can learn and handle whatever modeling tools HTC uses.

I don't remember them ever saying that about skins, just about new aircraft as a whole.

"They" being the infamous figurative "they" or "them".

*sigh*

I love Rhino - downloaded the demo with 25 saves max and almost instantly was creating some delightful stuff.

Tried it with - damn - whatever the free download version of the big commercial program was - 3DSM? - and got absolutely nowhere.

NURBS man, I love NURBS.

Don't be hatin'.
