Is it possible to make a successful torpedo run without being shot down?
Is there a tutorial somewhere or can someone post some basics?
I understand you want to be low and slow, but how low and how slow?
I enjoy this aspect of the game for some reason but really never see my torpedo do anything because I'm usually dead immediately after dropping it.
Any help is appreciated.

yes and no....its very hard to make a succesful torp run and live if there are a lot of enemy planes around and if the cv has ppl in the 5in guns

200mph or under and 200ft or under and depending on how far out you let the torps go you will have to lead the cv as much as a full boat length if say you let them go when the ack starts shooting at you.

if you die after you drop the torps...watch you text buffer....if you hit the cv you will get alot of messages telling you eather, and, GUN DESTROYED, SHIP DESTROYED, If you just get a bunch of gun destroyed messages it means you hit a boat but didnt distroy it. A ship destroyed message also could mean you distroyed a ship but it could mean you sunk a little support ship or the destroyer. If you get the SHIP DESTROYED message after you got killed and are in the tower. try typing on the country channel and asking if the cv is dead
Any help is appreciated.

CV guns are so strong that its verry hard to survive a torp run. Eaven with no enemy planes around and none in the guns the autoguns still have a good chance to get you IF CV and escort are fully up.
Best hit chances are if you put the torp in th water from fron side, so it hits the cv about 30 degree from front. Also need to aim a good deal ahead since the cv does around 40 knots, i think the torps do 44 knots?

There is a very detailed article on torpedos here (http://www.virtualpilots.fi/en/feature/lento_ohjeet/ah_torpedoguide/) :)

Hi Hap, great to see you! LOL, I might have the links to these things, but actually reading and understanding them myself is something else..... the odd time I do get on to play these days I'm usually in a bomber or GV anyway. I'll have to try playing more myself. :D

zxs was apparently a Russian with a fetish for Trig. He must have left the 169th SSF just before I joined; think I remember hearing that his system didn't make it to AHII.
