After installing the high res pack you need to change the texture size to 1024 (video settings). Yes, it does make a difference.

If your rig can stomach it? Dont know. Gotta wait for Skuzzy on that one.

Switch on 1024 textures, put plains on rw and check out some of the custom skins. Detail sliders etc full up.

There is a noticeable diffrence, specially on the wings with skins that have well done panel/rivet lines. While flying in ma i never noted a diffrence with it on since the enemys are always to far out to see details.

Except of course for COORS and NathBDP who seem to like flying with less than 50 yards distance to enemy planes, where you probably could note a diffrence.

Yes. to save file size and installation, AH installs with a default max texture size of 512x512. You must install the high-res pack to get the 1024x1024 (4 times larger) textures, and they look better, but most systems can't run with them (without stuttering, I mean) from what I understand.

If I recall I believe Skuzzy has said that no vid card yet built has enough memory for 1024 textures, or some such comment.

If you havent installed the high res pack, you cant run on 1024 textures. Selecting them would just result in 512 tex being shown.

YES, to run on 1024 tex you *need* to install the high res pack.
