Title: Attention "101st Fighting Keyboardists"
Post by: Seagoon on December 06, 2005, 09:53:46 PM
Howdy All,

If you are interested in making a real contribution to the ongoing war on terror, I have the contact information for Ft. Bragg's "Adopt a Soldier" program. What that entails is keeping in touch with a soldier from Bragg via mail and email throughout their deployment to Afghanistan and Iraq, sending them occasional care packages, and generally being a voice of encouragement and support from home.

Please though, only contact me if you do support Coalition involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a Pastor in an army community I can tell you, that one of the last things these guys need is to be fighting on two fronts and the discouragement they get via the news media is already more than enough.

Also, please only do this if you are committed to seeing it through. If you adopt a particular soldier, that means that someone else who might be very committed won't be able to do so - one email and a pack of Twinkies is not gonna cut it. It works best if your entire family is interested in the project.

Please PM me or post your contact info here.

Thanks,

Seagoon

Goon, here's a great thing if you want to get some of those that sew at your church involved or if any of you guys wives are handy with the needle.  Great project if you ask me.

"...began in response to a need on Ward 57 at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital in D.C. Injured soldiers are coming back from the Iraq war requiring extensive medical care to recover from their orthopedic injuries. The only clothing they have to wear over the splints and specialized "fixators" is a hospital gown. These gowns left our brave soldiers with less than adequate clothing to wear as they recovered from their injuries. Our mission is to design, create, and deliver specialized clothes for these brave soldiers..."
