Title: A new first for me
Post by: KTM520guy on December 07, 2005, 05:19:26 PM
I camped my first spawn point today!!!! Yipppeee!!!! I landed 15 kills before they gave up. 7 on one dude and 8 on another. They just kept coming back. The neat part is that I took over the job from a squadie who killed the same guy that I had 7 kills on ,14 times!!! All in all, it was good fun.

Now, if I could learn how to vulch. Hmmm

:)

If you figured out vulching, could you train me??

Sadly, after over 1 year of flying this game.... i have to admit:

.... its an art i havent managed to even be slightly good at yet. Any pointers?

It requires you fly something other than the Hurricane Mk1 Schatzi
Title: A new first for me
Post by: Morpheus on December 07, 2005, 05:56:21 PM
you can vulch with a hurri1.

Land on an enemy runway, taxi to the spawn, break the gear off but make sure the plane is pointing at the spawn. When the plane spanws BANG BANG BANG!

Then there is always landing a formation of B17s at an enemy base, then take off again. The drones stay behind. Because your number one 17 is out flying the drones can still fire. Switch gunner positions to one of the drones landed on the runway of the enemy field and vulch away! Its more comical than anything else, as scoring kills in a bomber does not count. You could do this back in AH1, not sure about AH2. But boy was it funny to sit there and nail spawning planes with your parked B17 Drone.

NEVER!!

Ill never leave my baby behind!! :D :lol

Edit: Morph, ok, ill have to try that. How do i get rid of the gear? Belly direction spawn?

You can belly it in, but do it slow so you dont slide too far away from the spawn. Actaully breaking the gear off is tough, you have to turn fast to do it and you can over rotate the plane so it wont be pointing at the spawn. I only did that once, and got run over by a tank soon after I landed.  :)

The B17 thing is way more fun though.

Hmmm .... then I should be able to park a B26 back there too. Then I can fire the primary forward guns and my gunner has all the turrets as back up. Reminds me of the Good Old Days (sniffle) ...

Did someone say, "Deathstar"?

Actually, to stay on topic, the person you killed wasn't Casper3, was it?

Darn near a 10% hit percentage in a Hurri 1 and IIC.

Do you give gunnery lessons?

As well as flying lessons, I can't stay on a bogey long enough to kill it with .303s, I have a hard time killing a bogey with 6 American 50 cals.

Actually, i think my gunnery sucks. But heres what i do:

- Tracers off
- convergence all 8 guns 175
- get up close and personal for shooting (d200 and closer) anything further out is just for 'spooking' as it does no real damage
- short half to one second bursts only
- aim for cockpit or horizontal stabs (wingroots on Zeke and Spits)
- PATIENCE, its no use firing the 303s if youre not sure your hitting anywhere close to convergence (ive pumped my entire ammo into another plane, spread all over. He looked like swiss cheese but was still flying)

The problem with the Mk1 is, when someones fighting you smart, hes got no trouble staying out of your gun range. The trick is to make him impatient and get him to blow his E and start turning with you. Thats when they sign their death warranty. So its more about evading BnZ attacks and your own patience.

Im always willing to go TA or DA. Just holler if you see me online. I fly European evenings. But im not sure whos gonna give whom lessons :).

It's bad when you have a patient b&z'er over your head.  He will just orbit up there making diving pass after diving pass.  After enough of this he will get enough pings on you to knock something off or out.  :(  One nice thing I find about flying the Mk1 is that HO's are almost too easy to evade.  When the bad guy is about 1000m out you can change your flight direction so fast that after he makes a few adjustments in an attempt to stay guns on that he is totally out of phase for a good HO.

You can vulch in it Schatzi, just need to follow your advice and aim for the cockpit.  IL-2's will die with only a few hundred hits to the cockpit ;)

Hehe, yes, thats when im in real deep s*** :).

I have a film of me and BUG (in P38) fighting for over 15 mins.... I kept climbing between his passes, but so did he..... was a rather funny situation. I had to bug out at the end and dive low to land. Was running out of fuel.

Only pathetic lamer dweebs fight smart, a real man would immediately unleash his testosterone, put his brain in neutral and start stallfighting with your Hurri I no matter what plane he is in. :huh

Patient BnZ'ers are the ultimate pathetic lamer dweebs of AH. If he wasn't such a sack-less coward he'd stallfight your Hurri I with his E-Fighter. Anyone who uses energy, firepower and speed to defeat a far more manueverable opponent should be dragged out back of the OC and summarily executed like the cowardly, mangy dog he is IMHO.

Death to the Dweebs!

They like life. I do not. I like to ram, ho die and take them with me in the process. After 4 or 5 passes and its obvious they will not engage I change my overshot setup into a highspeed reverse and throw every bullet I can at his face. 9 times out of 10, well ram eachother or I will land enough hits to send him packing. Its a glorious moment.

KTM, i want to see a photo of your motorbike.... which one is it and how do you like it?

Thinking of buying one myself but a bit scared that the KTMs will not be as reliable and pretty costly in the maintanance?

I'll see if I can dig up a picture or two.

Don't be scared of KTM's. They are very high quality and easy to maintain. Keep the oil freash, air filter clean, and the valves adjusted and you will have no worries.
