I just bought a $150 radio controled tank, and I don't even do cocaine!
Is there a place where people like me can get help ?
-
I'd plant a mini-cam/nightvision system, replace the low-powered transmitter/emitter and fake turret with something functional, and go hunting pests in the wild.
-
It shoots 6mm BBs. And the turret traverses and the tube elevation is adjustable. A wireless cam and a visible laser is very doable.
-
It's a Tokyo Marui M1 abrams. 1/24 scale.
-
You don't need help tell you spend about 900$ total on one like I did!
Mine doesnt even shoot BBs!

Ohhh I've been teetering on the edge of buying one f those for some years now.
I just cant think of a way to jusify the expence to my wife.
and I dont think my primary reason of "hunting the cats" is going to cut it LMAO

Spending 900 on a radio controled tank that doesnt even shoot anything?
Now thats nuts.
Being able to shoot is the main point in getting one
Hey. Maybe you can somehow mount a 22 on it :D
-
I toyed with the idea of sawing off the grip of a hi standard double action 22 revolver, putting a small solenoid on the trigger and maybe getting one of those hi capacity teardrop revolver mags. Probably wouldn't fit in the turret.
And then in a moment of detatched objective clarity I thought to myself, "I'm to pretty to go to jail".

Yeah, it was one of those "WTF did I just do?" moments.

Iwaver makes some models (under $100) that shoot lazers. You can have up to 6 at a time fighting. 6 hits and yours shuts off and needs to be reset. A few of the guys in my R/C club got them and we have "wars" from time to time.

Well you have it now. you might as well enjoy it and have some fun with it.
Have any cats?
Nothing. and I mean NOTHING on this earth is more funny then startling a cat to the point where it jumps straight up in the air about 5 feet and tries to run in five different directions at the same time while still airborn.:rofl

There is a place where people go with your affliction, but your already there, its here...

????? :huh
Revolvers, double action or not, do not have mags. They have a cylinder, that's why they are called revolvers.

I want one. now where's that dang cat?
-
Now go get yourself a model C-5
-
6 MM BBs....for airsoft guns? That's a freaking plastic ball of annoyance. And a dog training tool.
-
You could turn it into an alarm clock.

that is the main reason most men agree to have children.
for nearly a month before my sons 8th Christmas I would take out his train set and "test it for safety" after he went to bed. no decent father would run the risk of his son being injured by a faulty and untested train. to not play with it, I mean test it would have been negligent.
seriously, a son is all it takes to change "that freak of a man-child who refuses to grow up and stop playing with toys" into "a wonderfully devoted father who spends so much time playing with his kids"

I was looking at that yesterday. Is that a Hen Long tank? Did you have many problems with it? Is there enough space inside the turret to stuff things like a pinhole wireless cam?
-
Mounted everything on the outside, can't remember how the inside looks. Yeah, I think it's one of the Hen Long rebadges.

Well the Vs airsoft abrams was shipped to the wrong address, my fault, hadn't updated my address on ebay for like 3 years. Since it was an ebay deal I have doubts that It will ever make it to my correct address. Oh well somebody got a nice xmas present.
However, I was in a RC hobby store yesterday and I saw Vs Pro Leopard 2a5 in winter camo! The leopard was my first choice anyway, I settled for the abrams. It's not airsoft but it's IR laser, which is even better because it can do battle with other Vs tanks. Needles to say I bought it. I also ordered the more realistic linked tracks. It came with the rubber one piece tracks.
The detail is awesome, very near styrene scale model detail. I'm gonna hook it up with more detail work and paint, a laser site mod, and a mini wireless cam. And I'm sure I'm going to get another one so I can have fights with friends. I'm waiting for an m1a2 Vs Pro IR to come up on ebay that won't need to be shipped from hong kong or japan.
Anyway it's a blast, I've allready ran through two sets of batteries.

Don't want to jinx it but, I'm probably going to marry her. My mom won't like it but she'll come around, as long as I'm happy.

Chairboy, a lil off topic but, if you cover yourself in babypowder BEFORE you venture into areas with the itchy insulation the pwder will form a kinda protective barrier. Also to remove insulation grab a old pare of your wifes panty hose... and rub them on your skin, it will remove the insulation very effectivly
-
As nice as it looks, laser doesn't seem as fun as actual projectile matches.. BB/Paintball/whatever.
I'd probably spend a few months machining parts myself to adapt a working gun that'd accept a few different loadouts.
Nothing like getting a fancy car and crashing beyond recognition after a good flogging.
-
Well the IR laser battle system is pretty cool. When your tank gets hit, it shakes, lights flash and it's stunned for a couple of seconds. After six hits the tank is completely disabled, and needs to be manually reset.

Let me guess: You want me to post pictures of myself, covered in baby powder and rubbing myself furiously with pantyhose to the O'Club so you can tell me if I'm doing it right?
I'm not falling for that again.

Can someone point me to a trustworthy site in which I can purchase 2 or 3 RC tanks with airsoft or with IR laser abilities please ?

Whatever you do, do not shoot the 6mm paintballs out of it.
1) They bounce like crazy and it's too hard to get breaks. Hell, regular .68cal can be difficult enough to get breaks with at 280fps. Just kinda gotta pray it lands on the capsule's seam... or pay for expensive paint.
2) When it does break, it's inside the gun. Cleaning it will make you cry. $150 frisbees, while mometarily fun, draw wife ack.
3) TM gearboxes, pistons, & springs like fragments of paint shell even less than they like the paint fill.
4) Cokeheads usually can't afford the expensive hobbies :)
When you're ready to step up to a version that can really put an eye out, I've got links & tips ready :) There's way more effecient ways to setup a paintball turret nowadays thanks to the neverending paintball arms race.

Good stuff. If you don't have the paintball marker already, a quick trip to walmart will fix you up. They have the spyders with electronic grips for cheap. It's getting harder to find guns that don't need batteries nowadays... but regardless, just open the grip and re-wire the switch.

I have three daughters, ages 10 months, 4 and 6. I love my daughters but their toys suck. It’s really the only thing that sucks about having girls. The 4 and 6 year olds got coal this year but I went to Toys-R-Us to pick something for Santa to give to the baby. The first thing I did was walk around and look at all the cool boy stuff. Boys have got it made now; all kinds of cool RC things and toys that fly. Sigh. Then I walked through the sappy uninspiring girls’ section and found a few things that the baby can beat on and chew.

tanks are for sissies. real men use model warships. (yes, they actually sink.)

Congrats new tank daddy.
Those are hen long 1/16 tigers. People seem to be pretty satisfied with them, it's their 1/24 scale tanks and the pershing that get the most complaints.
Here are a couple of threads about the HL 1/16 tiger from the rcuniverse forums.
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3688434/tm.htm
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3592742/tm.htm
If you dig around in that forum and the yahoo groups I'm sure you'll find a lot more usefull info to get you stoked about your tanks.

Nevermind. Nefarious allready posted the link.

Ever wish that miniature flir arperture on your RC tank really worked? Well just cough up $13,000 and wish no more!

Now it can see you!
I just got finished installing a mini wireless passive IR video cam in the turret. It shoots out through the FLIR aperture, and the on/off switch is concealed under the loaders hatch. So the external appearance of the tank has not been altered at all.
[Dennis Hopper mode]How cool is that! A scale model with working FLIR man! [/Dennis Hopper mode] Well not really, but close enough.
Next I'll be replacing the head lamps with IR LEDs. And then on to the targeting system. :t
Now I'll get laid for sure!
