It seems like so much of the emphasis on vid cards is strictly surrounding framerates - but even prior to the last code smoothing updates I was getting acceptable framerates from a 9600 pro. What I'm wondering is which vid cards LOOK better? In other words which ones provide the best picture quality in Aces High? I don't have problems with framerates but what I do have trouble with is making out other aircraft, especially if when they are below me and the terrain is the background. Part of the problem is how dark the game appears on my end but I'm also wondering if it is a clarity issue. Maybe I need a new monitor... maybe a diff vid card?? Perhaps lasik surgery ;)
So anyway I was curious if anyone has tried out more than one vid card and if you noticed any difference in the ability to clearly see objects in the game? Especially if anyone has compared the Nvidia to Ati products.
thx

Relic please tell us what system you currently have?

I have the same card as you, and dont have any probs with darkness. Have you tried turning the "Gamma" slider up in the game?

My system:
Epox 9NDA3+
AMD 64 3000+
1 gig Crucial Ballistix
PowerColor 9600 Pro
17" CTX monitor (purchased in 98)
I have tried the gamma settings in the game to "lighten" things up but that actually seems to wash out the colors and make things, in some instances, even harder to see.
thx
