or LET A PRO DO IT NEXT TIME!

What happened to it?
-
I found no information on why he decided to head down the street with trees on either side and cars passing by off in the distance... Not to mention the people running for their lives near by where it ended up crashing.
Bad moves all over the place on his part though. Total lack of concern for everything around him.
-
Looks to me that he was trying to take-off very, very heavy.
Basically he couldn't get enough speed to get translational lift (you can see him sink closer to the ground as he goes down the street), in fact it looks like he barely had the power to hover in ground effect.
Dumb move all the way around. Probably started when he got out of bed in the morning.
Hope no-one was hurt:(

Here's something you dont see everyday. Pilot who ran out of gas and landed on a public street. At which point, was refuled and given permission to take off again. Dont you think you'd be extra careful and make sure you had a clear run down the street before attempting to take off again?
Cessna Side street runway. (http://www.furballunderground.com/guncam/Cessna_Takeoff_Crash.mpeg)
These guys are just plain stupid. Why you dont shoot at U.S. troops.
Incoming. (http://www.furballunderground.com/guncam/Air%20Support%20Iraq.wmv)

I bet when he heard that loud whistle comin, he wished there was a nice deep hole to jump into. :lol
-
The helicopter crash was a flight carrying a man on his 100th birthday I think....unfortunatly he passed away in the accident. It was in the news a few months back.
-
the pilot wasnt the benifactor by anychance?
-
While this is a bazaar film clip.
With absolutely no info. How can anyone assume that the pilot was Stupid?
-
Mugz you really want an answer to that?
If something was wrong, which it apeared to be... The pilot could have set the chopper down while it was a copule feet off the ground. Instead he charged down a street filled with people and cars. And you are asking why he is stupid?
-
Nice try bud. I never asked "Why he was stupid" I asked how "WE" can asume that he was stupid. But im certain you are not qualified to make any assessment as to what was going on there. But im so glad you are keeping in your form by insinuating that "I" am stupid. regards
-
mugz who insinuated that you were stupid? I just wanted to know why you thought he wasnt.
Surely flying a jolly green giant several feet off a crowded street with trees on either side, along with light pole cant be the bright thing to do?
It doesnt take someone too bright to know that you shouldnt be flying a giant chopper into trees and a crowd of people now does it? One that didnt look like it wanted to get off the ground in the first place.
-
sorry Bud. I just dont see how any of us can make asumptions as to what, why and wherefors in regards to this film clip. I for one am not going to say what he could have done. Im sure there are many factors involved. didnt look like the run of the mill Heli either. Looked like one that would have required more than a general license to fly. All the same...good clip...and soilid reason enough for me to stay outa the damn things. (No glide factor) :D
DJ229 from our squad is or was a Heli pilot. Currently he is a Commercial Airline Pilot. Wonder what he would say?
-
that pilot was stupid and should have put her on the ground as soon as he headed down the street.
-
Anyone ever ask how the helll the chopper got there to begin with? Im pretty sure it must have landed there. It didnt look like an Air Field of any sort.
-
does not matter muszgee, the pilot still made a stupid choice continuing that take off.
-
How about crank up the collective and get out of trouble, instead of trying to fly that thing down a street. I'm mean I hate to second guess any pilot under dangerous circumstances, because things fall apart so fast and even the smartest guys can get in to trouble.
Morph you read No Visible Horizon you should understand even the best and smartest pilots are not immune to bad and stupid things happening. :aok BTW when you gonna give that back.:D
Great clips tho! That poor bastard in the Cessna. God that had to suck!
Reminds me of the stories where guys have an engine failure, nurse the plane dead stick to the airport, usually at the limits of the best glide, get the plane over the runway and land only to realise the scraping metal sound is because - after doing everything perfect - they forget to put their gear down.
-
YOu're right about that Mars. Also that book is the ****..... Best, craziest book I've read.
One thing they talk about is how to lessen the chances of fatal errors by using your noodle. Taking a chopper down a crowded street... Crowded with people, and trees, and light polls, oh yeah and cars... Is not using your noodle.
Its amazing how fast things can go from good, to bad, to worse. I got a small taste of bad with you showing me the ropes of aerobatics. Man was I good at getting us into inverted spins or what?! :D but never saw the worse, god willing I never will.
I dont know, some things just bother me I guess. Like taking off in a cessna and not checking to see if you have enough clearance for your wings to make it half way down the street. Wouldnt you want the cars to be completely away from the road? rofl...
Here's another example of stupid people doing stupid things.

Id like to know what his take on it is too. Looked like a bonehead move to me.
Thanks for the clips Morph, good stuff.:aok
-
Mugzee, I am a commercial Helicopter pilot. It really looks to me that he was over gross weight and possibly down wind as well.
Mars as far as yanking on the collective goes, if he was so heavy that he could barely hover in ground effect (which would make it impossible to hover out of ground effect), which looks like the case here, he just wouldn't have that option available.
That helicopter was flying straight to the scene of the accident as soon as he started moving forward. He should have put the machine back on the ground instead of trying to go down the street to get to translational speed. (Translational lift will happen at 15 to 20 mph).
At any rate from what I see, even if he had a clear run, it looked doubtful that he would have gotten truly airborne. He looked pretty heavy.
Morph, your right. Stupid is the word I would use too.
Just my humble $.02
cheers,
RTR

How does that saying go? "It's better to be down here, wishing you were up there, than to be up there, wishing you were down here?"
That's some profound **** right there.

clearly, as i suggesteds before, this is a murder and the old man was the victim.
now we just have to work out if it was the pilot, the chopper or the butler that did it.

Please taunt some more.... It is amusing listening to your banter. Especially the stuff you make up in your head. That would be worth a grant at the very least to study!

I find the plain stupid ones more of a challenge, but the ones who reach stupidity on a profesional level seem to do it for themselves even in the space of two posts.

so which is it? My mundane boring gibberish posts or my hugely amusing and organ grinding posts that frustrate you the most?

If you can not figure that out, maybe I need to pull back my suggestion that your brain is worthy of study, because obviously after this latest retort you have done a great disservice to yourself.
By all means continue if you are going to try and be a worthy advesary, but just hush if you can not come up with something better with that superior brain and intellect you seem to have misplaced.... :lol

How the thell did this turn into yet another BK/Batfink strokefest thread?
Will you guys just get a room?
-
Did you ever stop to think that maybe its batfink who makes it a batfink vs BK thread? :)
Not to mention the fact that he is just dam weird.
-
Honestly Morph, no. It seems that you go out of your way to hunt him down and antagonize him, at which point the rest of the BKs pile on.
I won't deny that at times he has it coming, but this seems to have become a religion for you :)

i didnt meet anyone on friday but we can pretend if its going to make morpheus sick. this girl tonight was good fun but from now on i'm cooking.
And im far too old to be a player, and there isnt enough talent here to play.
I'm a boring romantic type in truth, but there is just as many girls who like courtesy and flirting more than bling-bling and a nice car, so i'm not suffering. for the rest of my life, moon light and champagne. not strip-tease, porno and meat parties. that i can promise.

oh, and 'dinner' turned out to be dinner.
i always prefer it with the quotations around it, that way is more fun.

Oh yes, and one last thing before i find something worth doing or go to sleep......

uhmmmmm... I'm all confused here. (granted me and the boy are into the Grolsch, and maybe a couple of Glen Fiddichs too).
Didn't this thread start out as a clip of a crappy Helo driving episode?
How did we get here now?
Isn't this more worthy of the O'club?
Or, even with the O'club, are we due for another "experiment"?
Enquiring minds want to know.
Last but not least....Morph can you shoot me an email? have some movie making things to ask you. My PM works here, as does the email in my cp.
cheers all, play nice.

Haven't played in a while.. think I logged in once back in September, flew one sortie in a Hurricane then logged out. Kept paying till November though, just cause I forgot to cancel the sub again.
Still in school (go super super seniors! lol), taking my last final tomorrow. After that I may resubscribe for a month or so, but my stick was spiking pretty bad last time I tried.

Ok a scenario..
As I'm sure all you hotshot pilots know that any aircraft above, say 5000 ft ASL on a day 32 deg C, cannot take off from that runway, ...any plane.
So say this dude is at an alt that he's near limits, but it's cloudy and 10 degrees cooler. The ol boy wastes too much time, the sun comes out, changes the temperature and due to his standing alt, the pilot knows he's in trouble.
But he's doin this for a favour for an old friend , who's dad turned 100. The pilot knows he's already in watermelon for landin in an un authorized area, and now the flight conditions have made it worse. He stays down , loses his job for illegal use of the chopper, or tries to cut his losses and beat it.
Voila, accident. No surprise. Next to underestimating weather conditions, the most prominant reason for aviation accidents is peer pressure.....nothin new...nothin stupid...just a series of conditions proving once again human falicies.

It started out as a thread entitled "Stupid people"
It was a thread insinuating that a Helo pilot was stupid.
As a Helo pilot yourself im sure you don't think a stupid person can achieve a license to fly a Heli? I mean doesnt it take more than average intelligence to fly a Helo?Last but not least. I think it pretty damn sad to make light of a tragedy like this. Not that you yourself have RTR, but some of the other comments are just sad in this thread. Im just thinking about the people onboard that Helo...and it saddens me to think we can sit here and call the pilot a "Stupid Person" Sure he made the mistakes that led to the crash. Most accidents/crashes are caused by mistakes made. It doesn't make the people involved "Stupid" :(
