Title: Layla, what a crappy song
Post by: NUKE on December 17, 2005, 06:23:44 PM
I'm sitting here at work and this song has been playing for what I'd guess is the last 10 minutes.

Crap, it never ends. It's horse chit....... the guitars sound like cats screetching behind that dumb piano melody THAT NEVER ENDS.

It actually started to give me a headache. Damn you Eric Clapton. "god" my arse.

The electric version drives me nuts too.  The unplugged version is much better.

Clapton ain't no Hank.

The song stinks, but i like it because i associate with the scenes in Goodfellas with all the dead bodies.
Clapton is dung, i cant think of much that he ever did post Yardbirds that merits much attention & the Yardbirds were much better after he left

At least it's not as tiresome as Cocaine.

I wasnt thrilled with the slow version, but the song that gives me a headache is "Hotel California" by the Eagles.

I'm with you on both counts.

I guess there's no accounting for taste. Two of the top five guitar players of all time (as rated by the top twenty or so guitar players ever to pick one up) and one of the better keyboard players as well. Oh well.

Beat me to it.   Derek and the Dominoes is his best Post-Cream stuff.  I still like Bell Bottom Blues, and usually hearing it twice, before going on to track 3.   Duane Allman went too young.

I really like the unplugged version.  The gypsy kings version of hotel california is great, much better than the original.

ya Layla sucks but it's not like every song can be a winner.

Clapton is still damn hard to beat.

And one other thing...

You children need to learn good music.  Imagine somebody running down Hotel California by my favorite group.  Just imagine.

I like a lot of the Eagles stuff, just that song gives me a headache.

I enjoy their version of 7 Bridges Road.

Try Me First And The Gimme Gimme's version of that.

They have a tendency to ooopmh things up quite a bit. Their cover of Seal's "Crazy" runs at about twice the speed :D

"cocaine" is an ancient J.J. Cale song that clapton covered, poorly in my opinion.

Played drums for 14 year, some piano.  "Cocaine" was a cover Mac.   Again, the ONLY great Post-Cream, Clapton stuff was Derek and the Dominoes.
