are there any new maps forth coming? It would be nice to have something new.

because for the umteenth time noone has the original "source" files or whatever they are called to update the map. it must be re-made from total scratch, elevations, terrain, tiles, all of it.

the .res files can not be extracted form the map.

only the AK guys that originally made the map had them.

Better yet, let people vote in the new one out of the entries and vote out the old one. This alone would go a long way towards the staleness known as the MA.

You do realize it would take someone very comfortable with the incredibly obtuse map editor perhaps 3 months or more 8'ish hours a day 5 days a week to make a typical large MA map right?

Look at the skinners, they spends all kinds of time on those. If HTC offered up 4 months of free service to the winner or even just ran a contest once a month I bet there would be enough to keep it going every month. Nothing will happen at all though without HTC taking some leadership. It's not my company but if it was I would be focussed on my bread and butter instead of pie in the sky. The MA is what keeps HTC a solvent company and it seems to be generally neglected in some major areas.

I have a map I've worked on for well over 200 hrs total so far, it's not even vaguely close to being done. I doubt I'll ever finish it, it's like a root canal without local anaesthetic that never ends. You go ahead and try it for yourself...

i started a concept of an MA map long long ago... put in weeks of planing a layout for optimal gameplay... showed it to the community here, not much reaction. sent it into HTC, no real response of "go ahead" brought it back into the limelight with some revisions about 14-16 months ago. same deal. since i have had absoultly zero luck figuring out the TE i gave up. there were people on the forum helping in the TE forum, but their lingo was way too "complicated" for me. it sounded like i was programming something, not artistically making a map.

Actually, my meds control my OCD just fine, it's just my wife won't let me quit my job to make maps for AH. :cry

Yup, on a user friendly scale of 1 to 10 the TE is a generous negative 1,987,506...

I think they updated the TE shortly after they updated to AH2 so it was compatable. I don't think there was much if anything done to make it any easier to use.

If you look up 'Tedious' in the dictionary it says: See AH Terrain Editor.
