There is a red 'X'?
edit: you fixed the link... looks like the pilot is landing with the tower on the left/port side of his aircraft.

That's a P51?

The plane is landing over the bow.

That is correct. A TBM is landing over the bow as the Essex, which is steaming full astern. At the time, all fleet carriers were equipped with bow arresting gear. Eventually, this gear was removed as it was obsolete in the jet age. However, as long as it was fitted to the ships, it had to be maintained and tested.

Right click on box and check properties of link, then copy / paste url into browser directly. Site may be denying image leaching.

All I see is a short msg post.
No link, no box, no pic, nada.

Ghosth,
maybe a problem with the browser you use? Got the same problem when using my standard old opera version.
However, using IE, there was a empty box, and finally i managed to see the pic at last.

To view the photo, put this URL into browser:
//www.navsource.org/archives/02/021019.jpg
and add http: manually. It's the only way to view it...

I uploaded the photo to the AT&T server. It should be visible below.

Look for Malta 1942 - The Spitfire Year.
Not as well written but just as interesting and enlightening.
