my reasons probally arent any different from most people in this game i love the game the aspects graphics, people i meet and it takes my mind off the real world.
NOW having said that i cant mention any names ill get thread lock but i have been accused of many things in this game lazer dweeb, tool shedder, even the big word c ter but last night takes it all disrespecting buff pilots from ww2 give me a break
i pay 14.95 so if i wanna fly 1k i will ive said it many times the fun of flying that low is getting to target not destroying targets as most know i do not get there that often but we meaning 999 and myself can push a fight back
now if im disrepecting ww2 buff pilots what does it mean to furbali dont think many pilots radioed the enemy and said meet at a1 for furbal action and if you kill me ill reup
got off discussion sorry like i was stating this tread will be hijacked but why do you play ah2 ???????????????????????????????????????????????
-
To kill buffs in my Me110-o-death!
-
Why do you play ah2?????
So i can kill potatoe tots who pay 14.95 to fly buffs at 1k :D
[/joke]
Really, I play for the sheer satisfaction of flight. The feeling you get after flying outnumbered with only you and your wingman and ending up safe on the runway landing kills together is what I look for.
-
I used to play for the thrill of the fight, but after last night I realized I only play to be bait for Storch
-
Gee, Tater, bro.. .sounds like somebody got their feathers ruffled.
So they accuse you of being disrespectfull of real WW2 bomber pilots by flying so low?
Gotta be a new low on the desperation meter, there.
Ignore them, dude. They are obviously of those with an over-inflated self-importance factor.
Personally, I love attacking low buffs. Which is why I up the 190A8 Cannon Platform. Unfortunately, more often than not, I don't up it when there actually are low bombers coming in.. but, rather, several non-buff type planes which, in almost every instance result in me returning to the tower in a quite rapid, if not completely messy manner.
I play AH2 because I have had a fascination with WW2 A/C since 5th grade. ( first model was a TBF Avenger that my uncle, who worked at Grumman, gave me for Christmas )
There's something about being part of a 15+ bomber formation with wings of escort fighters crossing the front lines and pummelling bases that gives me a satisfaction of comraderie and immersion.
I do not play AH2 to become the best. I certainly don't play it to hunt down enemy fighters for no apparent reason ( furballing )... though I may do that on occasion just for vocation-reaffirmation ( oh yeah..that's why I don't do this )
Oh yeah.. and making planes go boom with 5" cannon.. yeah, baby!!
-
Damned if I know why I play this game. :huh
My therapist and I are still trying to figure it out. After all these years in flight sims, I still can't fly, I can't shoot, my E management sucks, and my SA blows chuncks.
It must be obsessive-compulsive behavior
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
-
great gameplay, good graphics, great people at an unbeatable price. it's amazing on how many friends you made by this game when you sit back and think about it. :aok
-
I play to show my respect to WW2 fighter pilots.
-
I delight in the misery and suffering of others.... mostly my squad. That's why I play.
-
I play because I have no life, and nothing better to do.:cry
No really I have always enjoyed aviation, WWII Warbirds in particular. I have been into flight sims since I got my first computer. This game is just anouther one to add to the long list, but this has been the best game I've played yet. The community is great, the game play is fun for the most part. FSO's completely rock. The squad I belong to is awsome, and I have made some good friends here.
Thats why I really play:aok
-
yes drone someone has not sure why i gotta get so much disrespect i dont think i give disrepect out but who knows
by the way morph just how do you show repect when you trassh so much ??????? not a slam just tryingf to see the other side o the fence(dif between me gammer and you ah greatest spokesman *besides your twin mittins hub or whatever it is this week***
-
I play so I can watch the l33t cyber pilots wade into 9 bogeys at 1k in a hurri 1 and then listen to them rant for an hour how they got gang banged and cherry picked by a bunch of lamers
Let me help you tater .squelch {l33t jerky boy} = aaahhh silence
-
Oh and btw tater you can squelch l33t jerky boys on the bb too:aok
-
I play because every so often....well maybe not often....but enough to keep me coming back....I get a flight that sucks me into the cockpit and it feels like I'm really there as much as my imagination will allow.
Anything that makes me connect in some way to those guys who've been my heros since I was a little kid.
It can be something little, like looking out and seeing a flight of the same birds all tucked into formation enroute to the fight.
I've flown a number of flights with a squad mate where we've gotten into knock down drag em outs and survived despite the odds. Those make me come back.
Or it can be one of those 1 v 1s that has your hands shaking after it's over because you've worked that hard in it.
Those are the things that make it easier to ignore the Ch. 200 BS and the BBS whines
-
it's safer and cheaper than going to a bar and driving home.
-
I play for the comradery of the squad and others I enjoy flying with and against. Also for the occasional good fight I run across. That's it.
-
For the chicks!!!:aok

I always loved all things aviation, and especially the 'Golden Age' of propellers, i.e....WW2. Also, always preferred good simulators to arcade stuff.
This game, warts and all, is the single best dollar-for-hour entertainment value you can find anywhere. The best PC games cost what, 50 bucks?, and a good one gives you 20-30 hours of gameplay. AH gives you endless hours for a flat rate. Excellent.
I also play so's I can pretend that any day now, my true talent will appear, and I will know myself for one of the greatest combat pilots who ever lived. Really...I'm sure I am. My current state of suckage is all a ploy while my latent skill develops. I'm a monster in a buff, and you're dead in tanktown if I'm near...but a fighter makes me look really bad.
Seriously....great value, a vendor dedicated to improving the product and the experience, a fully engaged player community, dynamic gameplay and (usually) great comraderie.
As for the commentary offered to tater....I really don't see how you can 'disrespect' a WW2 pilot in this game. I know two myself, and they simply don't see what we're talking about. When we take their squad names, they expect us to behave with dignity. Dignity has nothing to do with altitude. When tater or 999 fly lancastukas at 1000 ft, it may be annoying (at least when messing with tanktown) and out of place, but disrespectful? Puh-lease...gimme a break. That's a real stretch. Besides, as far as I can tell these guys are pretty OK, and don't mean any harm.
Let 'em call you toolshedder...when did furballers win the moral high-ground anyway? Laser 50's...what, did we write the code? Did we tell the schmoe to attack dead-six? The Big 'C' ?...totally off the hook without screenies/films/proof.
Play your game, play it with respect for the other guy's game and move along.
Once again...(/reverb on) I have spoken (/reverb off). ;)

Oh, yeah...and for all the girls! :aok

 why the confusion morph you talk respect explain what you mean
-
well said udhildvl reasons i play is simple i like it not to many things left in the world that gives so much pleasurable fun as a game imo.i simply like to fly buffs i put up a post that i wanted to learn fighters and i have been trying even have a few kills they just dont come as easy as gunning a 26.

that's bettter. English.
I am not serious when I say I play this game to show my respect to WW2 airmen. That may play a small part in it some way, some how... Maybe.
You really need to learn how to take a joke and stop taking everything so seriously. When someone says something to you that you dont like, especially in a game, taking it to heart is the biggest mistake you can make. Sorta like saying, bombers dont belong in the game. Hello, yah they do. And that is meant as a joke.
Why do I play... Well, its simple. I love WW2 A/C. All of them, not just one or two. I think they're all amazing, especially when you get to see one up close, flying. The sound, the smell, the feeling of the exahust pulsing against your chest when you're standing next to one.... No other feeling like it.
I also fly because I enjoy the people in the game. I've made some great friends, and was even offered a job and an oportunity to get to play with and work on these birds we get to fly everyday in the game. I enjoy the friendly banter and ball breaking just as much as I enjoy flying and joking with my squad or whoever. In my opinion, and many others I'm sure, AH has the best player base out there.
If you think Ch200 is insulting, you havent heard and seen what's said on our squad channel on a nightly basis. If you didnt know us, you would think we genuinly, honest to god hate eachother with a passion.
-
I play because I love military history and WW2 combat aviation in particular. I love reading about those that fought in air combat and I love recreating that 'feel' for myself as best I can within a game.

'play?'
This is not 'play' .. it's Life and Death out there man!
-grin-
Truly .. what sucked me into online air combat was being surrounded by that generation as I grew up. I wanted to know *why* the Mustang was regarded as the 'Cadillac' ..and how the spit defeated the 109 in the BoB ...and the mechanics of bomber formation intercepts, escort, ..
..the books I read as a kid never did actually get into explaining the details of *how* a Mustang actually managed to fly all the way to Berlin and *then* shoot down a 109 ..when you see them side by side on the ground the 109 looks far more lethal, nimble, and outright dangerous than a Mustang (IMHO)
Now I return to AH cause I am finally burnt out on 'raid' guilds in EQ and EQ2 .. sheesh .. its like bein in the Warthogs all over again with some wannabe 'Col' ..BEEN there done THAT :)
EQ2 I now play when my wife can play .. we duo and have a bit of fun destroyin stuff.
Look forward to spendin a lot more time in AH tho while she is at work.

Oh, and as for why I fly here.
I have loved airplanes from the time I was a little kid. When I was old enough to appreciate WWII history, I started reading accounts of WWII pilots and dreamed of being able to fly those planes. Many years later, in 1987, the world's first multiplayer air-combat sim became available -- Air Warrior -- and I was amazed and enthralled.
I got heavily involved in Air Warrior, and after its demise in 2001, looked around and researched the best multiplayer WWII air-combat sim, and concluded that Aces High was the best. Also, I am very interested in scenarios, and Aces High has a good and growing scenario aspect.
These days, I still love WWII aviation and history. I like flying in the main arena because, even after so many years of on-line flying, it is still a blast; because I like many of the people in the game and the community; and because the main arena is a good place to keep your skills up for scenarios. Scenarios are my favorite. For me, flying in scenarios gives the same feel as reading accounts of WWII action.

i get asked all the time how i came to play this game...here it is.
my ex started playin this game back in march, one day he left it on when he went outside and i sat down and was playin round and shot my first person down. from there on out, i played while he wasn't and watched him play. the more i played....the more addicted i got to the game. then he left the beginning of april. he got the big screen and i got my puter...and the AH account :D
i never played a flight sim before, and this is an awsome game, i have made many friends, as well as enemies, but too all my friends on here...<<>>
what more can i say..................
HI, I'M BETTY AND I'M ADDICTED TO ACES HIGH

Damn, I forgot Brooke! Sorry man :o
Why I play this sim? Well, like most others, I've always had an interest in WWII aviation, read tons of books, went to more than a few air shows, all that stuff. Played all the early "sims", though my first was "F15E Strike Eagle" for the C64.
In spite of that, there was always something about the "roar" of a WWII warbird that shook me all the way down to my 'nads, leaving me staring in slack jawed wonder as a B17 or a Mustang went by overhead.
One day, while on GEnie, I stumbeld across the AW boards. From there I was hooked. I had months of $500+ credit card bills..hell, maxed the damn thing out before I was forced to moderate my time. During that time, I was found by QT and the Hams and invited to join. At about the same time, I became an AWTA trainer, which paid my GEnie bill and eliminated the biggest obstacle to flying...sims that is. During this time I also grabbed my priate pilots SEAL rating, and put about 20 hours towards an instrument rating before cash flow problems caled a halt to that.
I followed AW to CRIS and DELPHI, though I didn't stay at the latter long, and became a Trainer on AOL as well...paid the bills :) I "guided" in a few other games there as well.
AW went to the web, and I followed there too, first in the alpha, then the closed and open beta (I htink I was in the alpha....memory fades). AW started to die after EA got their claws in it, and I sort of faded away shorly before its ultimate demise.
One day I stopped in here, and though the signal to noise ratio was much lower, I still heard some of the familar banter from the old days. I signed up, took to the air, and have been struggling to get better every day of the past 2-3 months . There's still the old thril of working to saddle up, though I still can't hit watermelon when I do, but this too shall pass.
Till then, I'll still picture myself looking over to my wingman, giving the old "thumbs up" as we push the throttles forward, and wave to the happy coolies toiling in the paddies as we once again lift off to to battle in the rising sun.
-
Put simply, after all these years....I still find dweebs entertaining. Oh....HIYA Shaky. :D
GE...
TC told me you were coming to AH. Looking forward to seeing you. :)
-
Yup...self admitted dweeb here...but I had standards...
I was never a SPIT-DWEEB! (currently manifesting as a LA Dweeb)

Morpheus you state...."You really need to learn how to take a joke and stop taking everything so seriously. Morpheus you and the Bk's have time after time tried to bully, intimidateand jerk anyone else who doesn't play the game the way YOU and the Bk's think it should be play.
So last night was it a joke when you said bombers don't belong in the game? was it a joke when you said Gv's don't belong in the game?...I suppose today it was a joke last night when you said ....and I quote"FU"
no doubt that was a joke also?
Morpheus I have stated that you lack integrity before...I state that again ...what you say does matter and you need to be accountable and resposible for everything you do in life.
You can't say "FU" and the next day say it was a joke.....thats crap and your wearing it!...

Ouch! Well, at least AH is something very fun you can still do. If you have never had a broken limb before, here's one thing to look forward to: when you get your cast off and get to scratch that leg for the first time in weeks, it is a feeling of bliss you will never in your life forget! :) Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
-
Looks like 999 wants to drag it out.
I have a little bit of news for you 999. I wasnt telling you how to play the game, I was telling you how I think a certain part of the gmae should be played. Am I standing behind you while you're playing with a gun to the back of your head dictating your every move? Right then, so if I disagree with you flying buffs at sea level, that is too bad for you I guess.
You might not make a joke of bombers in real life, but you sure make a joke of them in the game when you fly at 100 feet off the deck slinging bombs haphazardly accross a field then die to ack or dozens of fighters. That is my opinion, if you dont like it...Tough luck.
I know cheerleaders who have thicker skin than you.
-
I play AH for the fun of upping a Hurri1 against a 110 raid of a base and getting 4 of the buggers before i die a fiery death :D .
Seriously, this community is amazing. Beats any boxed game with better graphics/engine anytime.
-
I dont play just donating to a charity $14.95 a month

tater
last time we flew together seems to me you were at least 700 feet higher than me. dang alt monkey.

It's an odd feeling when the doc brings in a Black & Decker billion amp power drill/saw while describing what comes next.

Note that they only did that once with buffs for all the obvious reasons.
Tried it in P38s again in June of 44 with essentially the same result for fighter bombers.

actualy most sorties i do fly are between 3 and 8k with the everyso often noe as of resent we have tryed to maitain a little alt knock some fighters down then hit base jt next time ill let you go higher my friend.

Morpheus....you state.."looks like 999 wants to drag it out" You respond three times before my first response but I'm the one dragging something out?...thanks again for the miss characterization.....says alot more bout yourself.....
Also Morpheus if you ever attacked my heavy bombers you would note that 80% of the time I am between 3-10K Alt. another miss characterization by yourself.
Lets get back to the real issue and that is guys like yourself saying "FU" and not appologizing for it!...thats crap and your STILL WEARING IT!

FU? I said that to you? Are you sure about that?
I seem to recall saying that to Glasses and we were again, as we always do, joking.
And yes you are, dragging out it... With your cry baby temper tantrums.
Id hate to see how you react to things that upset you in the real world.
GET A LIFE SISSY GIRL.
And one more thing... You are very rarely over 1k. The only time you're over 1k is when you launch from a base that is over 1k. I've seen you fly and faught against you for a long time. Dont try and play me.

I play to win.
I have been flying online for about 12 years or so now, in many different games and many different names.
I enjoy a great fight the most. However, it's my intention to hamper enemy efforts and help my country, even if I am doing it solo.
What can I say, Im helbent =) I enjoy being a pain in the posterior to my adversaries.

Morpheus,
Thanks for the quote "GET A LIFE SISSY GIRL" and "cry baby temper tantrums"
Thats just more crap and your wearing it!
Morpheus I have never complain about any aspect of this game ever...I appreciate greatly the wonderful game it is! Kudos to Hitech and there staff!!!
The only thing I am persistant about is the people who cross the line with "FU's" etc who are a drag on the community. If the Bk's what to be *******ess do it on your squad channel THAT IS WHERE IT BELONGS...not in the public on channel 200!
BTW in real life I'm one of the nice guys you'd meet!
