Friend of mine sent me this little funny today and I thought my fellow NCOs and those "O" grades with a sense of humor might enjoy a chuckle. ;)
Eleven people were dangling below a helicopter on a rope. There were ten Officers and one Sergeant. Since the rope was not strong enough to hold all the eleven, they decided that one of them had to let go to save all the others.
They could not decide who should be the volunteer. Finally the Sergeant said he would let go of the rope since Sergeants are used to doing everything for the good of the Service. They forsake their family, don’t claim all of their expenses and do a lot of overtime without getting anything in return.
When he finished his moving speech all the Officers began to clap…

In RL though, they'd make the 2Lt jump 'cause everyone knows a good NCO is worth a dozen Lts.
What's wrong with polite applause after a speech though?

technically before the appluase the officers would have to form some sort of planning committe to determine the impact if any the loss of anyone on the team would create. ;)

Things officers say that drive NCO's nuts..
A 2lt saying "well It's been my experience" ...
A cpt saying "I have an Idea"...
:)

A 2nd LT with a sense of humor can be interesting though.
I had one say to me (when I was a PFC straight out of AIT) "I dunno, you've been doing this longer than I have." :aok

Try not judge a soldier by what they wear on their shoulders or sleeves. It can be terribly deceiving.

A 2lt saying "well It's been my experience" ...
or a warrant officer saying
"check this $@!T out"

And then fly a Cobra on its side between two tall pine trees because they are too close for the rotor to pass between.

Not always... 2LT here, went to basic training in 1988, commissioned int 2004... you do the math.
:aok
My OBC class average age was 30, mostly prior service. I still listen carefully to what my E-7 has to say, and almost always take his advice.

The 3 most dangerous things heard in uniform
A Private saying, "I learned this in boot camp."
A Lt. saying. "Based on my experiance."
A Warrant saying, "Oh man you gotta see this."

warrent officers in the navy are highly respected. this is because they rose through the enlisted ranks.

You should have seen the class we got in right before I graduated; probably 90% academy. They were intellectually smart, but you could tell they had been on lock-down for 4 years. They had no socialization skills, were dripping in hormones, etc. Hopefully, the TACs got 'em straightened out before they graduated!:noid
