Title: what if?
Post by: bagrat on December 23, 2005, 12:04:48 AM
what if enemy vehicle icons didn't appear to airplanes?

Wouldn't it add to the fun of hunting and allow vehicles a better chance to hide,I mean all it takes to kill a panzer is a 250lbs bomb right? lets add a little more challenge to airplanes divebombing gv's.

I would enjoy extra challenge of lookin for a gv instead of just havin a giant PNZR icon appear.

P.S.  try to keep response mature and I am aware of just killing the ord or turning off icons.

I've always liked this idea for all of the above posted reasons.

They don't until your right on top of them.

And even then if they hide in trees it can be very difficult to find a single GV.

You think its bad now? GV's used to stick out like a black dung beetle on white carpet. Icons were visible at 5k plus. And you could see their dot farther out than that.

I do think camoflauge could be taken one step farther.
If the tank is stopped, engine off, should have the ability to hide your icon completely to simulate crewmembers jumping out & piling local vegitation or netting on the tank.

Want to put a time limit on it, fine. Say it takes 1 minute after a tank stops to be camoflauged.  Soon as the engine starts, its gone, he has an icon again.

But give GV's the chance to "dig in" so to speak.

I think it would take more then just shuting off thier engine to do this.  I think they'd have to be completely stoped, THEN the engine is turned off.  Otherwise, people would turn their engines off as they rolled down a hill.  Just my 2 cents.

What if there were forward line troops that could act as spotters ?

Oh ... thats right ... we don't have those yet.

What if moving GVs were to throw up dust clouds and leave track marks that could be spotted by planes that fly reconnaissance ?

Oh ... thats right ... we don't have that yet.

What if we could actually see with the naked eye in "real life", what we can't see in this virtual world.

Oh ... thats right ... current technology has its limitations.

Consessions are made on one hand, for what we don't have on the other hand.

I was playing "GV spotter" the other night, and as Ghosth pointed out, it's not really all the easy (compared to AH1) to spot GVs on the ground. You have to be right on top of them basically.

Ok, well...

Vehicles being harder to see?

Um Adds a Fun hunting experience, but as it is, it is hard enough to find and destroy GV's (Especially when hidden under the foliage), Sorry but i would vote "no" to something like this.

Or when they're hiding inside a shore battery. :D

IMO finding a GV is a simple as pressing SHIFT F4 and I can spot a GV miles away, and as to a GV hiding in trees it still is not difficult it just requires a very slight amount of effort. Just looking in the general area of a GV hiding in trees will lead to the icon popping out for a fraction of a sec telling you exactly where the GV is.

So no I don't believe spotting GV's is difficult in any way.

Though I suppose it is all relative.

And I.
Also thought it would be cool to have Smoke Rockets to Mark GV location once found.
