Title: engine trouble
Post by: Fianna on December 23, 2005, 03:43:48 PM
sometimes when i'm flying around (well, not exactly flying... more like bouncing and jumping), my engine will just quit on me. it'll also do this sometimes while i'm about to takeoff.

i also can't seem to increase my speed (when the engine is working). i press plus and minus on the keypad, and i see the throttle move in the cockpit, but i never go any faster.

any help would be appreciated.

first off, you are describing what sounds like a spitfire mk1, hurri mk1, or any other carburated plane, the engine cuts off in these planes when doing negative G maneuvers

for the throttle on the keyboard ( not keypad ) use the - & = keys ( beside the numbers at the top)

the +&- keys on the numberpad only mess with prop / RPM's

upon taking off raise your gear  hit the G key, don't pull up so abruptly trying to climb to gain altitude quickly, slowly let the plane gain speed and climb out.......

go to the Training Arena and look on roster for a trainer, if one is not available ask on text channel  if someone could watch you take off and give you an asessment, also make sure you have your stick properly calibrated in windows and in the game.......

you can reach me at TequilaChaser(at)flyaceshigh.com if you would like to hook up with me or reach all the trainers at    Trainers(at)flyaceshigh.com

it happens to me in p-38s and p-47s...

and that still doesn't explain why it happens to me while i'm on the ground before takeoff. the engine will start, but all of a sudden i can't hear it anymore. the props still spin, but there's no noise and i don't move. the rpm gauge stays constant, so i know the engine is still on, but i can't move the throttle. i tried pressing the "=" and the "-" on the keyboard, but that doesn't help either. i checked the keyboard map to make sure it was set right, and it was. is there something else i should check?

lastly, i'll be on the training arena as soon as i get a joystick... i'm not gonna use up half of my 2 free weeks with a mouse.

;)
