I'm haveing some problems with FS2004 sometimes it freezes during gameplay and sometimes it restarts my computer is this a software problem or is this a video card problem?
-
Got any addons? I've got a f14 that if I crash in the sim it crashes to desktop. Have you tried to re-install it? From my experience with fs2004, it is rock solid and reliable.
-
well if it restarts then u might want to check for spyware, viruses, and even malware. But i doubt its those. Video and Graphics cards may not be supporting the game.

Sounds like something can't quite handle the loads being put on your computer. FS2004 takes up a lot of space and is very demanding on machines. You might also want to take off the case and blow out any dust that might be in the fans. Might be an overheating issue. If that doesn't work i'd reinstall.

Wait, which executable are you clickin to run it? MSFS.exe of x-plane.exe? :D
-
Sounds like a Blue Screen Of Death related problem.
Go to control panel -> system -> advanced -> startup and recovery / settings -> uncheck "automatically restart"
This will prevent Windows from being automatically restarted in the event of BSOD and gives you a slight bit more detail on the problem.
I've had some BSODs with FS2004, but only when used the other of my two soundcards - Fortissimo III, FS2004 really hasn't liked it.
However works just fine with SBs stuff.

Is there something I can do to stop it from freezeing?

Do a quick and dirty scan to find out if something is up.
http://www.trendmicro.com
Goto home and office.
Top right - scan now (Trend micro housecall)
Will look for virus, malware and a bunch of other crap.
If nothing is found (which i seriously doubt), PM me.
