A couple of friends in my area have recently purchased and started plinking with pellet rifles.
Yesterday, on a whim, I picked up a 5.5mm pellet rifle and a couple of tins of pellets.
We all got together for a little "plink the beer cans" session. We finaly got down to some serious competition. We were using a dock railing as a bench rest.
Man.......it was a total blast. The big "kids" were having more fun with our new toys than the other kids with their new Christmas toys. :)
We plan to do this on a regular basis for kicks now.
I recommend this to any other big "kids" looking for some plain ole plinking fun.
The first day of fun was more than worth the price.

I always enjoy just going out in the backyard and plinking with the air rifle.  Its about the only thing I can shoot at the house that won't piss off or scare the neighbors into calling the police.  Great fun! :)

Just remember if you set up an indoor range, don't use unjacketed lead pellets.  I read a report somewhere about indoor ranges and was very suprised at how quickly using unjacketed lead pellets can create a serious health hazard if used indoors.  The indoor shooting range I used in college had a huge air filtration system down at the bullet trap to prevent lead dust buildup.  Bad stuff especially if you have kids.  Better to use copper BBs if you have to set up a winter plinking range in the house or garage.

No need for an indoor range to plink with pellet rifles here, but a much more simple solution to that prob would be to use lead free pellets. :)

hehe takes me back to when i was 15 or so, me n a mate used to shoot moddle airplanes....was fun:)

Hehe. yep, sort of what I felt like. I have shot a little of everything most of my life, but this sort of reawkened some good plain fun for very little cost.

pah!!! tanks!!! was my model aircraft collection that bought the bullet....my god i was stupid at 15.......wish id kept em now , but hindsight is a wonderfull thing ....
Started building a model collection this xmas , a friend bought me a revell 1/72 Wellington , he didnt realise that they were repaired /serviced at my local aerodrome(SYWELL) during WW2  , so i decieded to keep model and start collecting them again....was a a nice prezzie ...... reminded me about my local contribution to world war 2 .....

HAH! Aircraft models were reserved for either the Fuselage or Wing roots packaged with match heads :)

I love my .177 Daisy.  Got it in August and i'd be lying if I said I hadn't gone through at least 1000 pellets and BBs by now.  Most have been in the back yard since they have built so many housing complexes out here.  Went out to a favored "open space" area to shoot with my dad a few weeks ago.  8 years and there are houses 100 yards from where we used to blow cans and bottles to bits.  Good thing you can shoot BB guns in the backyard.
