Title: FS2004 Troubleshooting 2
Post by: RAIDER14 on December 27, 2005, 09:12:36 PM
ok so I called microsoft and told the person about how my FS2004 was freezeing and after  getting put on hold several times:rolleyes: she said the video driver on my Nvidia Geforce FX5200-128 is out dated and I need to download a new version of the video driver. Are there any video cards that have video drivers up to date for FS2004 so I won't have to download a video driver upgrade

Ummm buy a brand new $300-$400 brand spankin new video card, and then it's possible they still aren't up to date.  I don't know much about NVidia cards, but i'd say just download the drivers, or get an equal card from a different company.

when you download a  video driver upgrade will it automatically install it self or do you have to unzip the file and...?

Are there any vid card companies besides Nvidia that have cards with vid drivers up to date that are below 400-300$?

When you DL the drivers it'll self extract and install itself. Then it'll reboot and work - hopefully.

Raider, the reason there aren't going to be any under the $200 range is because they are brand spankin' new which means people will spend extra money because it's new and because they want the latest and greatest stuff for their "super computers".  By the time it gets down the relatively reasonable prices it's most likely because they have come out with another new model, or are about to, so they can lower the price of the previous (outdated) model.  New card coming out=new drivers for it as well (most likely)

That is all of course what I think happens, I could be way off.  But no, you aren't going to find any relatively cheap card with updated drivers.  It's like buying Windows XP in 2000 and expecting it to have the security updates from 2004, it just isn't going to happen, because they weren't available at release.  Know what i'm saying?

No video card ships with up-to-date drivers except for the very top of the line, and then by a week later they will be old. You always need to keep up on the latest drivers for all computer peripherals, which means downloading them.
