Wow... talk about a real let down. CRS pretty much lied this entire week about releasing patch 1.20.
I love the game, but those guys are lacking in love.
-
It's better this way, believe me.
-
No offense, Scott, but there really is a more appropriate host/board for this stuff.
I think everyone cheerily endured your constant reminders that the "next big thing" had arrived.
A lot of guys here played there and continue to keep up with the status. Some just didn't count the chickens before they hatched.
How about keeping your disappointment a little closer to your vest now?
Of course, it's a free and open board here... just a suggestion.

I hope CRS picks up the pace or we may end up getting RAM back!

An open "beta" that cost me $40...
no thanks

FScott, go away with this. Take it to someplace where they may care. Go to the WW2O Officers Club or soemthing as I'm not sure you'll find much sympathy here. Forget your spamming of WW2O here a month or so ago (you REALLY shold have listened to Vulcan and zipped you lip for 6 mos at least) but more so in light of your totally assinine behavior over there.

i've seen more childish garbage here than his topic.
let him talk. :D

Well fscott, there are two ways to look at it. You can either feel robed that they didn't release it this week, or you can applaud them for not releasing a patch that still has some issue and could possibly break something else.
I look at it the second way.
I bought WW2OL just to get an idea of what crappy code optimization looks like, and to see the progress the rats make. I haven't played it in two weeks, and won't again until the patch comes out.
I'm still upbeat about the game overall, but am not holding my breath. I'll take it as it comes.

To calm you down Ill tell ya that it does not matter what the other sims are like. If AH does not have a realistic HA with RPS and decent icon, ack, and visibility settings (apart of much many other issues), I wont be back.
Oh, I forgot...paying 10$/month only. never again teh 30$.
So skersk, you pretty much can say that RAM wont be back :) sorry for the beer you have gambled this time in the FDB. Noone will win them :D
About CRS ,I'd rather see the 1.2 delayed until 2 weeks than having to play with that connection issue they described. I dont care anyway. Having fun so far, it will get better with 1.2.
And now lets wait until one of those guys (especially one of them ;)) we all know come here and say something idiotic :)

Westy, get real man, this is off-topic forum, and many people here play W2OL. No need to be a tard. You clicked on off-topic forum, then you clicked on this post, so you no lika, you no reada. :D
The real letdown is not getting the PzrIIc and the Hurricane. These are the 2 things I was anticipating this weekend.
These guys really need to work on their PR and attitude towards the community.
-
I'll save that message for when you subscribe again RAM! :p

How exactly did they lie? Seems to me your disgruntled...

This is absolutely true. You just don't set dates for releasing games (and patches for the games.) i've been keeping up with some other games that are in development (roleplaying games mostly) and the only time they mention dates is to say "the rumor that you heard us going Beta/Live on xx/xx/2001 is just a rumor. We won't even suggest a date until we're ready to go."
Some people (not implying you, fscott) take EVERYTHING a dev team says literally. One game (that has since been cancelled) used Flaming Kitten Juggling and Carrot Farming as "example" skills. Some seriously thought that these were going to be actual skills (well, more so the carrot farming one...) Point is, you have to be very careful as a game dev as to what information you release to your public. Dates are pitfalls, unless you're 100% sure you're ready to release.

They informed us last week that testing would be done over the weekend (july 14-15) and that the patch WOULD be released sometime this week.
They found something they didn't expect and now the patch won't be out until Monday at the earliest. I agree with the decision to postpone the patch, however, they need to take a lesson from other dev teams. Don't make promises you aren't 100% sure you can deliver on. They didn't lie, they had to go back on a promise. They had every intention of the patch coming out this week, yet after testing, they realized it'd cause more harm than good. So they did the right thing and postponed the patch.

That is where you are wrong RAMetz. The beer for the bet has been bought....if nobody wins then everybody wins. I will be drinking my beer myself now that I know[/i] you will never[/i] be coming back...ever.
-
Nah, no fun in drinking oneself's beer in a bet noone has won. Its quite sad...well, to drink beer is never sad ;). Ok, is not SO fun :D
hehe

Fscott, in words you are correct. In reality you are using "here" only as a safe base to post such baloney.

Its time some people stopped being part of the problem.
CRS released some buggy software because they were trying to meet deadlines... and look at the feedback.
CRS holds off on releasing a patch to fix some bugs and look at the feedback.
Damned if you do... damned if you don't.

That is untrue!!!! No where did they say the patch would be out this week. They said "soon" and "close" but never did they lock them selves into any particular day or week. They've been doing this too long to make that kind of error.
They have stated that their first priority is to get the people in the game who cannot get in yet. This patch should addresss that, but they found a bigger bug w/ the patch that could have / would have caused more problems than it would have fixxed so they delayed it. Smart thing in my book, they're going to get squeaked at for what ever they do so they might as well take the lesser ammount of squeakes.
Funny/sad thing is they did exactly what the community demanded they did and gave updates on the progress and kept the community informed and now they're lambasted even more for being honest. Bunch of damn women in that community i think. Can't make up their minds what they want...

It's a wonder ANYBODY would get into this business. AND it makes me realize what a civilized community AH has :) I think I need to fly some more...

Welp, I haven't played since the day it went on the stores. I probably will play again some day, maybe in 6 months, maybe a year. When they get somewhere in the neighborhood of "almost finished". If they'd held the public release to finish the product, I'd probably have bought a copy. If I had bought this, I'd want them holding the release of the patch until issues with it are corrected, lest you see a repeat of the game's initial release.

Udie, why you never call me back?

If it weren't for all of the pre release hype perpetuated by the CRS guys then you might be right Dejavu.
But given the neck deep roadkill and almost criminally false picture presented to the people waiting for this I for one say the Rats deserve what they have earned and more.
Whether it was the Sewer news reports, thier own reports on how E3 was, calling 'Lum the Mad' a liar or reading DocDooms fantastic portrayals of how realistic WW2O felt, how amazingly advanced the software was and how much fun the game was BEFORE the first patch
CRS had a full blown PR machine cranking "it" out, now they can sit there let "it" get cranked right back at them.
The problem is NOT the community. It's the company. CRS is simply reaping what they've sown. And fwiw, they built that community. It just didn't appear on thier door step all abandoned like.

Why CRS didn't just release another quick patch to fix FR and CTD issues instead of taking a month to release a patch with fixes PLUS new stuff is beyond me.
Check out http://www.hq.wwiionline.com/wwii60.mp3 (http://www.hq.wwiionline.com/wwii60.mp3) , it's hilarious. (1.4MB)

All you have to do is try to wade through the WWIIOL "Gameplay Forum" for a few nights between 8pm EST and midnight EST to see what a great community AH has.
Regardless of what CRS has done to anyone, the most vocal minority over there give the community a bad rep. I hope AH *never* appeals to that kind of "player".
-
Dunno westy...
I've not read any of the stuff you are talking about from anyone at CRS and I have read more than a fair share of WW2OL hype... Mostly from people posting in this thread.

And at least these guys still have a since of humor and hosted it on their site...

Can you fill us in on the reference to "The Desk"?

The Desk (tm) was a thread that was started over a year ago on the ww2 online website, it's gone now. It had over 2000 worthless posts in it at one point. It was a thread that everybody wanted to add to again and again.

Is that your disk space on the server, Westy?
I like to be kept informed about CRS progress but my taste does not allow me to read their boards much. So I appreciate WW@OL related posts here on the O'Club.
In order to get spammed by FScott you had to open and read his threads. They are clearly marked and he does not change his name, so he is very easy to ignore if you want to.
Please do so.
Same goes for Toad. Lighten up guys. Ignore FScott and save your time.

ROTFL! Mickey, that was the best.

Um, seriously, just what could the 1.2 patch do that is so anticipated?
I can see with a serious amount of work WWIIOL could be in a playable state by the 1st of the year, but thinking Monday there is going to a miraculous redesign from a patch is a bit silly.
I with complete honesty cannot understand how anyone could play that game for any amount of time. As someone said and I have repeated 50 times, it's like playing chess with only the 2 Kings. And to that I'll add on one toejamty looking chessboard. Yuk.
