on h2h *you should know me by know* i was in a betty and all my planes were shot down but i bailed and opened my chute. i think the other pilot was Frothy1. this was after the handgun patch. i was floating down and saw him flying away. After which i ssaid " Get back here! I'm not done with you!" and he turns back, buzzes me while firing. he doesn't hit me but i hit him with my last handgun round and his tail snaps off! turns out i had hit him in the tail just enough so that one more round would tear it off.
i still couldnt believe that happened even after he went down. the last thing i saw of him during that fight was the stump of the tail that attaches to the fuselage floating down.
:rofl

did you have leathality up on your bullets?
My favorite was way back, probably 2-3 years ago in AH1. Bish ran a mission to our base with B26s. It was probably 2-3am and myself and XtrmeJ were trying to deffend this one base against 20 or so B26 formations that turned into vulchers after they let their bombs go. Well, some of them started landing on the runway and were vulching us from their gunners positions as we tried to get up.
Rather than keep rolling from a capped base, we rolled 262's from the next base out to clean up our field. When we got to the base and opend up on the landed B26s at the field XJ let out this high pitched battle scream that lasted for a good 30 or so seconds and I nearly wet my pants from laughing so hard. Now for many this probably isnt very funny. But you would have to know who XJ is to understand how incredibly funny it was. I miss XJ. :(
-
nope lethality was normal..... do you know this one ffa map with 2 HQs it has 2 fields really high up and the whole island is sheped like a rectangle. you may not do h2h at all i dont know but that was the map it was on.

Blacking out in an FM2 (? might have been a 1-D) as I was landing on the CV only to wake up sitting on the flight deck missing most of the plane.....

I was flying around really drunk, then started to throw up beer and peanuts all over my keyboard.
I woke up about 5 hours later with my pants off. There was a dog and some dead goldfish on my bed. That was probably my best moment in Ah.
-
My most favorite moment was a coupl months back, when I and Hub launched a troll on 200 about Hillary being a good candidate for president, the second ammendment needing to be repealed, and that the US leadership should be tried for war crimes over the illegal occupation of Iraq.
I never received so many death threats in PM ever! I laughed my arse off the whole time, especially considering that 90% that were threatening me were hardcore advocates of free speech!
Ahh, the simple things!

That one time when I actually landed. That was cool. :D

Taking off with a full fuselage tank in a P-51 because there were no droptanks available. Ran into two vulching N1K2's with far too much fuel left in the aux tank to be able to fight them. I started a high speed shallow climb to get above the Nikis but then my mum called me on the phone. Set autopilot and talked to my mum for a good few minutes :D
When I got back one of the N1K2's was still following me but falling far behind, and we were way up high. On radar I saw that his compadre was still hovering over the field they had been vulching, but was now returning to base. I reversed and tried to catch him. When I dove down I left the Niki that had been shadowing me far behind, beyond icon range. The other one never suspected a P-51 coming in at nearly 600mph and I cleanly blew him out of the sky. The N1K2 left still wouldn't give up but by now I was dangerously low on fuel. I reversed again and met him back over the field where he again had started vulching. I got him with a nice front quarter shot, glided in without fuel and landed two kills.
Then the real fun started. The two guys I had shot down were calling me names on Channel1, callling me a coward that didn't want to fight them, you know the drill. Needless to say, it is pointless to fight two Niki's close in with a heavy P-51 but still I killed them both by fighting my fight. First time people ever swore at me for shooting them down. Great.

It was a fine morning in the main arena. Any activity was mostly 'tip and run' raiders from across the channel on the next island. So I signed out a Spitfire IX and took off climbing and circling the field into the clouds floating above. All the while keeping an eye out for any rogue raiders flashing across the water.
It was really quite enjoyable to fly for the sake of it for a change rather than become engaged in a hectic fight right after take off. Eventually I found myself just above the cloud when suddenly I caught a glimspe of something just below me. It disappeared for a moment, then I saw it again. It was an FW190 just above the cloud. So I tightened my virtual straps and flipped my virtual gun switch to on and dived after him. He soon saw me and dived back into the cloud. Soon we became involved in a diving rolling scissors in the middle of the cloud from which neither of us could get a shot off. Half the time I could hardly see him.
Eventually we popped out the cloud and he fled across the channel. I chased him for a bit but soon saw some bogeys approaching. 'Time to go' I thought and returned to base. Not a shot fired.
So what was memorable about that? Basically because it felt very real. It was no longer a simple computer game. For a single moment, there was a suspension of disbelief and I was in a Spitfire chasing a Focke Wulf somewhere over the English channel in 1942. I've read many books of fighter pilot's experiences and many went like that. A routine flight, an inconclusive tussle with another fighter and home in time for tea!
Another memorable mission was when I emulated Chuck Yeager's and Bud Anderson's last mission of the war. Which was in fact just a tour of Europe. I took a fully fuelled up Mustang and simply toured the entire map. Got chased a few times and even got a kill. But the fun was just in the flying.
This may only be simple game with cartoon aeroplanes but sometimes it hits the right spot.

Last night, rolled a La5, grabbed to 7k. See a high pony (15k or better) no one else around, just him & me. He proceeds to line me up takes several passes at me. Each time I duck, dodge, split S or otherwise evade. Finally he's getting closer to my alt, the time is ripe. I start a shallow dive & hang my tail out away from him. He takes the bait, pitch nose down, duck his shot, pull up onto his 6.
Now its all MY game, hes zoomin, & divin, rolling & turning but I'm stuck like glue.
800, 600, 400 finally he's almost on the deck, running out of E. He crosses my nose, take a blind snap shot. Roll in behind him, and see he's smoking, couple more turns and he's pieces, toast, burnt toast. Shoot him a (and meant it)
Wow, a good one on one fight in the main with 600 on. FANTASITC!
Climb, grab towards our field, get up to 7k again. Here comes a 109G14.
Same story as the pony, ended up landing em both.
Was only 2 kills but hey, they were all MINE! No gimmees, no ez mode, both had major alt & position advantages, and both died.
Thats as good as it gets in my book.

It was back in AH1, I was up in a Zeke, and I don't know why because I hate those things, probabaly a squad mission or something.
I got shot down and was re-upping to catch up with the guys when I got jumped by a 262 who was coming down from low-earth orbit at about warp 7. I jerked the zeke right and the 262 overshot, he went up hill and reversed but on his return he was in a bad firing position so he started a moderate right hand bank to bring guns to me.
Since he was in another severe overshoot he was never able to get the nose pointed at me, but as he passed by I got off a ridiculous deflection snap shot and sheered his wing off.
I laughed so hard I nearly crashed.
I get special joy from snuffing 262's. Thinking about it my second favorite was killing a 262 from the ball turret of a B24 while he thought he was creeping up underneath me...
-
I'm serious, Storch. I get shot down all the time in Aces High by everyone from the elite to the utter noob. If I wind up making someone's millenium for it, then all the better. We can all feel good about it.

My favorite moment was about 6 months ago. I was in an Ostwind defending one of the Rooks last bases. Bish were trying to reset us. They were all over our HQ base like hair on a bear, they were vulching en masse. I got in my Ostwind and shot down 58 vulchers in 13 minutes, this turned the tide, Bish failed to capture the base, failed to reset the Rooks and the Rooks came back the next day to reset the Bishops. This was my favorite moment because it's unusual for 1 person out of 500 online to have such a profound impact on the gameplay of the entire arena, made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.. :aok

Flew a Snapshot a while back, shortly after the new Spits arrived. We were in Spit IXs escorting 26s to France, with the 109s and 190s tasked with stopping us.
There we were, a bunch of Spits with the 26s in sight, headed out over the Channel. It was 1943 out of Tangmere for me.
As we cross the coast, the first 109s show up trying to suck off the Spits so the 190s can hit the bombers. A few of the Spit drivers fall for it and the 190s roll in on the Marauders.
Soon some bombers are hit and burning. My wingman and I have stuck with the bombers and soon I've hit a 190 and he's going down smoking. Smoke starts to rise from the target as the remaining bombers turn for home. The 109s and 190s keep coming and I end up in a turning fight down to the deck with another 190, ultimately I get him and head out over the Channel, hooking up with a pair of 26s headed for home on the deck.
It's those flights that remind me of the history that really suck me in. I can probably remember all of those kind of flights. For those moments it really sucks me into the cockpit and is as real as my imagination and the computer can make it.

My most memorable moment was my first flight in AH, it was Beta tour 3.
I took off in a P51 and started to climb, got to 17K and spotted a B17 at about 21K. Started climbing and got enough alt for an attack just as he started to drop his eggs. My first pass, and my last, didn't do any damage too speak of but while trying to reverse for another attack I got into a spin.
From 22K down to 7K I fought the spin with sweaty palms and a racing heart I finaly got the bird straightened out but the engine had died. I was about 5 miles from my base at 6K. I successfully deadsticked the landing and just sat there on the runway thinking to myself 'This Aces High is going to be a great ride'.
It still is.

I usually get disgusted seeing cool threads get diverted and degenerate into me/us vs you/them pissing matches, but I did get a grin here at storch's reference "leblowathn" :)
He is right about that bastard, yanno. He's just as bad as Gray Eagle was in Air Warrior about ganging up on people.....all by himself.....
culero: GE there's 5 bogeys over there, need help?
GE: nah, I got 'em surrounded
dweeb shot down
dweeb2 shot down
etc....

I was a pretty new baby seal in ah1. Was flying all by myself in a ponyB with one kill in the bag & out of nowhere a spit comes in firing & lighting me up. I was trailing smoke & figured I was dead meat but had to go for broke. I poped flaps & somehow managed to fluke in behind the spitty & killed it. "YOU SHOT DOWN HITECH". I had to get back to land this kill & had not landed but a few in game so far. I was on cloud 9 because like I said, I haven't landed but a couple of kills period & here I had a chance to land Hitech. All of a sudden my engine quit & I was a glider. I was trying to stretch my glide the best I could but knew I wasn't going to make the field. I was bummed. I dropped gear & touched down & was bouncing along & almost to a stop when all of a sudden I was rolling down a steep hill with the base right below me. I was able to lift off again & floated right over & touched down in the grass in the middle of the field. I rolled across to the runway & landed the kills.
I know that doesn't sound like much but for a baby seal in his first flight sim it was pretty awsome at the time.

Ya know Levi.... I was going to post that kill I got on ya in the FM2.....
Mainly cause I will never forget it......
Man I can still see ya flat at the top of that climb.... and then the dive after ya (yep even us noobs get it right somtimes).
But also because that was the night I developed this dam furballing addiction.
Then I remembered the black out on cv landing.
It was a hard call though

Ok, here's a real one:
Month or so ago, one of the rotations through the Equinox map. Major action going at one of the fields on the northernmost island (A7, I think). A bunch of guys I usually tag along with were hitting one of the vehicle bases in the eastern part of the island, and I took off from the wrong base (in my defense, it's where they suggested upping from, and was close in number to where they probably meant--A8 rather than A18) so was trailing really far behind.
Anyway, I get over 7 and figure I'd join the furball since I didn't see any other action. I singled out a Spit heading away from the fight below me, so I roll in, aiming to get onto his 6-low (love doing that in an F4U with 450mph IAS, can shoot up like a rocket into their blind spot, did that to an ElGay once, starting at his 3 o'clock high, perfect low-yo put him right into my convergence as I pulled up :D ). As I'm accelerating, I see another dot, and as I enter con range it's ddewil (can't remember how to spell your handle, dude!) in a Goon headed for the vehicle base, unaware of the Spit closing in on his six.
Well, the Spit sees me and breaks, and we enter a brief looping fight. He's warping so bad, though, (had some connection issues taking off that hadn't quite smoothed out yet) and even when I get a shot I'm not able to pull the trigger. However no worries, 'cause he augered himself (funny how those hills can just jump up at you like that :D ). I give dd the news (was a bit too wrapped up in the fight to warn him, seeing as the Spit broke off to fight me, anyway) and the guys are pretty concerned that they've been spotted.
The rest of the way in I stick close to the Goon, although so far no trouble. As we near the base we con a 190 (a D9) coming in, he's above us and diving in (I think he was on the far side of the Goon, and far enough above me I couldn't climb up). dd manages to dodge his first pass and I try to swing in on him, but he's pretty far out by now in a zoom climb and I'm trying to catch up. sac4 had come into range at about the same time as the 190 and was now diving in a HO on him, but he goes down, leaving just me between the Dora and the Goon.
As the 190 comes back in I manage to swing in behind him and we really get into it, first an extended yo-yoing/looping fight, then into a scissors (insane the way those Doras can roll). I'm in behind him, just keeping up with his scissors (Hogs can roll, too :D ) and taking pot shots when he crosses my guns. Most of them miss, but I start landing a couple pings and picking pieces off him.
I don't know whether he was low on gas or ammo, or if I'd hit something critical, (I have no time for channel 200) but he breaks off and starts running relatively level for a second. Even that brief pause gave me the time to spit him in my convergence and finish him off.
Had a close call with a train right as I was pulling away, and rejoined the attack on the V-base. I died later trying to get the manned ack so the Goon could get in, but we took that base right after I reupped. Twice I saved that Goon when there was no one else around, and it's probably the only time I've provided a truly meaningful contribution to a capture effort (beyond being just another target to shoot down). I wonder if anyone got that on film, I didn't. :(

my first multiple con engagement that i won.
it was off A48 on the Baltic map, heading north to IIRC 41.
i was in a 205 about 5k near that south-east shore that just out. i picked up a spit and a n1k, while chasing a pony and something else i forgot what.
got the pony, and pulled up right, snapstalled sort of like a hammerhear (but not) and made both the spit and n1k overshoot. got on the n1k's 6 killed him, and with the same move made the spit overshoot again. got him. then that other con (from here the rest gets fuzzy because i was extatic i won a 3-1) came in, and something else and something else...
there i was in a 205 stalling and wing dipping so bad i nearly augered 3 or 4 times into the drink.
got a total of 7 kills on that sortie without a single bit of help from "friendlies".
RTB'd and landed all 7 kills too.
:aok
that or the time i cherry picked morpheus in my dora.

I have a few highlights that stand out. Killing Leviathn in a furball. HOing Honch, and being thanked for following his procedure faithfully. The first times I was threatened via PM, and my first "cheat" accusation. The time a moderator asked me to quit encouraging the idiots on 200. My first 10+ kill vulch run. Spelling things with CVs. Vulching by ramming planes with my ostwind, and getting 30+ kills without firing a shot. Booting skuzzy from the squad. My first mission as a spy. Cherrying Stang's 262 with a spitfire. Vulching BKs in the DA. Fragging BKs in the CT while KS is off. A 1 or 2 hour scenario frame, flying Val's at 20k with a bunch of inebriated europeans. My first fanboi.
Many pleasant memories from far too many hours playing cartoon airplane with you dorks.
