Title: Zamboni vs. F-22 (a comparison)
Post by: Sandman_SBM on April 16, 2001, 12:42:00 PM
Saw this at work...  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

1. Single Seat

2. Turns on a dime

3. Does only ONE job (well)

4. Effectively clears a path, after which the REAL team can occupy the ice to put the puck in the net

5. Operator often acts as if the entire event is centered around his performance

6. Mission Support

7. Requires minimal intelligence to drive

Zamboni is what we called a napkin in a bar when someone committed a party foul.  Thats my Michigan humor coming thru.  Woohoo can't wait 6 more weeks and I will be back in winter in good old MI.

Hmmm.. hafta say I am a proponent of the F-22.  Supersonic with no AB is a key feature as is low radar signature.  I'm sure virtually any fighter pilot would love those.

So, if the electronics and guidance do all the work... you need the smallest fastest thing out there to pick up the slack.

The YF-23 the competitor for the bid of the new fighter contract which  the current F-22 won was MUCH better looking.

Just look at it!

It even outperformed the F-22 in most areas except economics! Remember, all your weapons were made by the lowest bidder!

No question... YF-23 was a good looking bird... I think one of the big reasons that the YF-23 was not selected had to do with the vapor trails it left behind when engaged in ACM.

I was talking to an officer Engineer in the RAF while at a job interview at British Aerospace - he specialised in air to air missile development. He said the F-22 was having serious problems with its internal bomb-bay and the supersonic transition.

Apparently, there was so much reverberation inside the bay, that the missiles were getting shaken to pieces. This was a year ago, mind you.

Nice looking plane though.
