24 Hours from now some of us will be pulling the levers on our Lazy-boy chairs as the cannons of the kickoff ring out across Southern California as the BCS Extravaganza gets underway.
I am a Oklahoma Sooner fan so you can imagine my plight when it comes to picking my team for the Rose Bowl this year.
On one hand we have OU's bitter rival, Texas. With a QB like Vince Young, you know it will be a good game. Strong Defence is going to be their #1 priority. Making sure Young has the room to move around and execute his 'Vick Style' offense, will come a close second. Agreat team all year but never really put to the test IMO.
On the other hand we have the team that made OU look like a bad pee wee league team in last year's BCS Championship game. With a one-two punch running game, a laser guided missle for a QB and a defence that I think doesn't warm up until the second half, the Trojans of USC come into the game mildly favored. Twice this year I have watched USC weasel out of losses (Arizona State (I attended this one) and Notre Dame) and come out looking like a rosey apple. Usc has proven (to me) that they have what it takes to be the BCS Champs again this year.
So whats your take? What name is on your foam finger?
:D

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and say it'll be a three-way matchup between the Brewers, the Steelers, and the Winterhawks. That's what my heart says, anyway.
-
ooommmmffffgggg Why do I have to go to school and miss it? That's bullcrap.
-
Go FSU!
-
As a Texan , living near and working in Austin , born here and raised here , and a Longhorn Fan all my life , I'll pick the Horns.
I think they have just as many weapons as USC , just not the notority. I don't think it will be a blowout , but who knows. Texas hasn't had the best track record after a week or so off.
I have the grill ready. Gonna be 80 here tomorrow. Burgers , Elgin Hot Sausage , and Shrimp Diablos.
I hope it's a good game. Win or Lose for Texas I hope they play well. If they play well and lose , then USC was TRULY the better team.
No offense to OU. They just came out flat , made a couple of turnovers and gave USC the boost they needed to roll em. Happens.
so in closing.............
HOOK EM HORNS

USC
The most dominant team in years, imo. They did have their bad games though.
-
I'm an Ag...so not a big T.U. fan :D but I think USC is gonna get spanked.
-
USC by at least 30... maybe 40.
Texas is gonna be shell shocked by 1/2 time.
-
8 turnovers by uT - gonna be a mess....lol
kinda hard to catch a ball when it hits you in your hands..
-
I'm gonna say USC by 6 1/2
-
just hope it's half the game the Orange Bowl turned out to be
Go Texas!! Hookem' Horns!!

too bad the Aggies aren't playing a bowl game..then we could listen to this....Gig-em (http://www.dangreve.com/gigem.mp3)
All predictions off....I'm gonna win the rose bowl by a blood alcohol limit of .16. :p
-
The only question you must ask is, "How bad is Texeas going to lose by?"
The only thing Texas can hope for is they don't get their arses kicked like the pathetic Sooners did last year.
Granted, I'm a 'SC fan so I'm a little biased but what you are seeing with the Trojans is possibly the best team in college football history. The Rose Bowl is also just another home game for 'SC, it is and has always been pretty much USC's personal bowl game.
ack-ack

USC as much as I hate to say it.
-
Go Navy beat Army!
Oh wait, we did.
Gona go with Natedog and agree Texas by 10.

Los Angeles Kings ;)
Football has become intolerably boring in the past few years. Amateur football can't be any better, IMHO.
That said, I'm all for any CA team beating a TX team. :)
How 'bout them Stars? :D

Rose Bowl----Your Pick?
Doesn't matter, the real game ended last night. Penn State won.
If people want, I've heard a funny story about Jenna Bush and Texas and a call to her dad. It is rather crude though.

Boooyah
7-0
-
Modern technology at its best. Game Clock is broke. Must be using windows.
-
he he he the horns got a frebie, the officials were asleep at the wheel. Both teams look good, if Texas comes out strong at the half it's going to be Texas by 6
Horns score again 7 to 16 !
-
SC forgot how to tackle.
-
SC needs to go back to tackling 101
-
Oh baby!
17-16
-
ahem, 17 - 23
booyah!

Hope you two fellas got lotsa fluids to help ya while ya eat your words.....careful, don't choke on 'em! (just kiddin, fellas)
Hats off to USC for their long winning streak, but tonight the better team won (despite what Mr. Leinart said after the game).
Can you believe Vince Young?
Awesome is the only word to describe the young man. He gained 200 on the ground and 267 through the air. I hope he comes back next season and doesn't go pro this spring.
Anyway, it's been a long time coming, way to go Texas Longhorns, 2006 National Champions!
:p :p
-
Well I hope nobody listened to my prediction... I bet on UCLA to beat SC this year.
SC fans should have paid me to root for Texas.
-
I thought I was going get a hernia the last quarter. Way to go Texas, Vince and the boys done good, a nail biter to the very end. :aok
I think that failed 4th and 1 attempt by USC and the later face mask penalty pretty much gave Texas a hugh opportunity to score.
A great game played by both teams, now if only the NFL could have games like this:D
-
Dont feel bad Midnight, I took that same bet. I thought for sure UCLA had it in 'em. I actually told one of my coworkers today in a discussion about the game, Texas by 3. I should get on a plane to Vegas right now!
I have had the USC vs. Notre Dame game as the best game of the season, but tonight takes the cake. I have to agree the officiating sucked, but both teams played a great game.
To USC (even though Linart is a putz):lol
<> To Texas- Vince Young will be back next year
Its ironic that Reggie Bush will have a Texan's jersey on next year :rofl

I almost had that memory blocked. 8 Months of counceling almost had it gone. Thanks Ack-Ack for the reminder! :lol

Hey im a day late...but ill bet Texas won last night
-
HOOK EM HORNS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a game !!!! I didn't think after FSU Penn State that it could get much better....................But it DID.
-
yep, one was a defense struggle while the other was an offensive battle
two great games
-
How do yall think Young would do if he was put on a NFL team that had a semi decent O-Line? Does he compare to Manning at all?
-
you can't compair him to manning.... completely different QB style... but with a good O-line, he would be way better than Vick, Culpepper, Mcnab, McNair, Favre..... He's better than half the QBs in the NFL right now.

Hmmm....Farve? I'll have to think about that one. I would agree though, with a decent O-Line , he is and would be in the NFL and extremly strong threat.
I will say, that Vince played the game of his life last nite. But without the Texas O-Line , and some very good recievers , and Backs , he wouldn't have the options he has.

That goes without saying. My little sister is a better QB then McNabb.

I would compare him to Randall Cunningham, but stronger. Tall, sees the field. He plays smart, he goes through his progressions before looking to run. But NFL defenses are alot faster, stronger, and much more complex.
Having the ability to be a pocket passer is very important. Where are the mobile QB's? Most are not in the playoffs. Bill Belichick has made a name for himself forcing mobile QB's to be pocket passers.
