Mine has to be… SPACE: Above and Beyond
I saw a post a few days, maybe weeks, back and had some spare time so here it goes.
What a show. This program out of all the military type shows that I have seen was the closest to the real service. Ok, so it was in the future and in space, the lingo and terminology were very accurate. I spent some time as a ground pounder and I was hooked from the first episode I saw. It disappoints me that it was so short lived.
I think the demise was the “accuracy” of the story telling. There were hardly ever any touchy-feally scenes, the earth had been beaten to standing on one leg, and war is hell. I’m betting the audience was limited to folks like me. Advertising and commercials, come on. If the rest are also like I am, I don’t shop, when I need something I go and get it, 5 minutes in the store and I’m out.
Show was targeted at too limited an audience. I was walking around work the other day thinking “chiggy von Richthofen”, where the hell did that come from. Until I remembered the post, Oh yeah. Funny as hell them painting the skull and cross bones on the nose, LOL.
Anyway, votes for other favorite military shows?

Hell yea that was an awesome show. I watched it religiously. I mean how many si-fi shows can you listen to jonny cash (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Proably the best tv show ever imo. It was a different story revolving around the same plot every week.
FOX you suck for dumping it!

Hogans Heroes
Nothing can compete with it.

At the moment.. JAG.
Bob Crane was funny but he's got nothing on Catherine Bell (http://www.paramount.com/television/jag/cast/bellbio.html).
-
Maybe but does Catherine Bell hold a candle to her? No way http://us.imdb.com/EGallery?source=mptv&group=1063&photo=3489-0027.jpg (http://us.imdb.com/EGallery?source=mptv&group=1063&photo=3489-0027.jpg)

The best military show ever was (and I think I have the name right..been long time)
Call of Duty
It was a Vietnam show following a particular platoon. Great show and one that I think fairly represented US soldiers in VC country.
And talking about Sci-fi war/military shows..i think Babylon 5 classifies and had one of the best running story lines ever...5 years of it....
Wingnut

Oh yeah wingnut... Call of Duty was awesome! ...or at least for the first season or two... by the time it died, it had ran it's course. Paint it black... pooyah...
-
Yeah, Tour of Duty was great!!! And the song was perfect for the show!
BTW, another grat show was 'Allo 'Allo (http://www.coldcut.com/video/aa) by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft. I really love british humour (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

MASH has to be my all time favorite.
I still watch it every night.

I prefer the history channel to any of these shows.
I can't believe you guys are arguing the merits of "Jag". Seemingly they are similar to the plusses previously found on "Baywatch"? Sheesh.

Ditto, and Wings Discovery channel...only two I watch when NFL football or the Seattle Mariners are not on...

I never saw but one or two episodes of Space Above and Beyond. I liked what I saw though Especially where they cast R. Lee Ermey as the D.I.

How about that old ww2 show Combat...
Vic Morrow and...uhm what's his name???

JAG: - I have never watched an episode. For some reason it bothered me that the show “Judge Advocate General”, an attorney basically, flies aircraft? It seems that a lot of people watch it though. There are several that I work with that like it.
Gotta have them Heroes and M*A*S*H units. A local station around here used to show the Mash episodes in order and then rotate back again when they reached the end. Think I’ve seen about all of em.
I could never get into F Troop. However, I did have a roommate in the service that watched it religiously. He was also a “Magnificent Seven” nut.
Black Sheep, I haven’t seen this on TV around here in a Long time. Cool show though.
TLC, Discovery channel (regular, science, and wings), and then maybe the History channel. My wife cringes when I start flipping.
“There’s nothing on”, she says.
“Yeah, uh huh, did you check the good channels?” (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
