I went to dogfighter for the hell of it today

seems they were bought out by playnet. funny that absolutely NO mention of 1.08 is on there.

what a joke. its just another propaganda website now, which is sad because i actually used to put faith into their articles.

no more.

The dogfighter network has been part of Playnet, inc. for over a year.  For what it's worth, Playnet has never sought to control the content of dogfighter.com.

The current move I suppose aims at increasing the users of playnet inc. by having Dogfighter readers sign up there; likewise, the theory goes, Playnet's hordes of users will be more aware of dogfighter's existence.
Unfortunately, playnet's "javascript monster" doesn't work well with netscape, so I'm required to login every time I want to see an article.

The news of 1.08 should be on dogfighter.  If you check the last update, however, you'll note that it was 10-05.  They probably just haven't put it up yet -- nothing sinister.

Actually - Dogfighter has been *highly* supportive in terms of the amount and quality of coverage it gives to Aces High. No other flight sim website compares to it in that regard. I was skeptical of the Playnet association, but it's proved to be unfounded.

Playnet isn't all bad.  They've put out Steel Beasts, a tank simulator (the best one I've ever played too).  Before that it was sold only over the internet, because it is a shoestring budget game made in a garage by three guys (all army guys, though one is a German army tanker).

Still, dogfighter is rather light on news and information right now.  I think this has more to do with a lack of interest in flight sims than their own fault.  They don't have anything to talk about.
