..... following a road traffic accident yesterday.... :(
Yesterday morning, the roads looked icey, so I got a lift to work from my son rather than risk using my moped. Husband picked me up at lunchtime, and the roads looked OK, just wet, by then. I decided to head back to work on my moped, got about half way down our road and was just thinking that the road looked a bit icey again (I'm sure it had frozen while I was home for lunch!) when the next thing I knew the bike was slipping from under me and I was off! I landed on the road on my side and managed to roll onto my back, but felt unable to get up without assistance..... at that point a woman came running out of a nearby house, portable phone in mitt, saying "don't move, I'm calling an ambulance".... oh boy! "But I think I'm OK", I protested.... but she insisted, so as I was struggling to get up anyway, I gave up and waited for the ambulance to arrive a few minutes later.
I didn't feel as if anything was broken, and my main concerns at the time were the fact I couldn't get back to work to let my colleague go for her lunch, and the fact that most of the fuel I had put in the day before was now flowing out and down the road! LOL, stupid I know......
Anyway, the ambulance men checked I was OK and got me to my feet, and helped me into the ambulance.... meanwhile the Police arrived as well..... dam I hope all my paperwork is up to date was the next thought going through my head! I was interviewed by the Police in the back of the ambulance and, because I'd been involved in a Road Traffic Accident, they were obliged to Breathalise me too.....LOL, the Policeman was almost apologetic but said he had to do it! It was clear of course..... :)
Once the Police were finished with me, I was driven about 100 yards up the road to my home - must have been the shortest ambulance ride on record! - while the other ambulance man walked my bike back to the house and parked it up. They saw me into the house and then left me to recover.
I rang work to let my boss know what had happened and will probably stay off work until Monday at the earliest..... very stiff and achey this morning, but otherwise OK..... thank goodness for the well-padded clothes I was wearing, or I think it could have been much worse. :)

Good to hear a your OK Flossy.
Hitting the black top is no fun in any language.....
I went down in april. It was 2 am in the morning, raining and i hit a patch of somthing, I think it was cement powder. I was only 3Km's from home.
Slammed me down hard and dislocated my right shoulder....
Banged up my Katana real good... The pitty was that Me, My Wife and Kids had spent evey day of my first holiday in two years to get her back to respectable condition.....
We put a lot of work into making her good again and it bought me to tears to see her lying there half with the fairing missing... All cause some clod had spilt his load and not cleaned it up...

flossy,
ditch the two wheels in winter, I have a CBR600 that sits out the winter in the garage.
Glad you are ok, if you bumped your helmet then replace it immediately, helmets are one crash only and then chuck them away.
Happy new year !

CHECKERS........

Thanks all for the good wishes..... :)
I am always extremely cautious during the winter.... if there is any hint of ice or snow, then I will get a lift to and from work as I'd rather play safe, and Zeb worries enough as it is anyway! :D Yesterday he advised me to go with our son, and he picked me up at lunchtime. We both thought the roads were OK by then and he returned to work leaving me to make my own way back on the moped. I hadn't gone more than about 100 yards before I hit the ice.....
I only live 5 minutes from work, so the moped is usually all I need - gets me there and back twice a day, and is more economical in fuel and tax than a car..... :aok
-
Had been hit by a car once, when I used to live in the Sates.
Man.. those 911 paramedics sure come fast.
Two minutes flat, after I hit the asphalt and lay there.

Thank God your ok Flo.. Get better take the rest of the month off. Tell ya Boss I said it was ok:D

If I understand correctly, everyone involved in a motor vehicle accident gets a breath analyser?

I wasn't sure if the breath test was national law or just our local (Cumbria) Constabulary. At least I passed it OK. :D

I work as a secretary in local government (Adult Social Care), and my office is less than 1.5 miles away from where I live. Returned to work today (left the bike at home and got a lift).... back's still a bit sore, but I'm OK otherwise. :)

Glad your ok ...
I Bike alot to work (Im 1 mile from work ) and when gas $$$ went thru the roof it saved me a ton . its really easy to get in trouble from some stupid car.
We could Steal Curval's scotter again and mail it to ya peice by peice if you need another one :D
-
Thanks Roscoroo..... yeah it saves me a lot of money after using a car for years - I can now go home for lunch each day and still a tankful does me two full weeks of return journeys. Plus its cheaper road tax and insurance.... :D
