Why does the game Crash To Desktop after a Host Connection Lost?
Why wouldn't it go back to the game menu?
-
Because HTC said so.
I'm guessing that it's to get the MA time to reset when a war is won.
-
I was hoping to hear from HTC about it.
Its not just at reset time, its anytime I get a Host Connection Lost.
When I click OK, CTD.
I was just wondering why they programmed it that way.

I know; that was my point. But when a war is won, the server simply rejects your connection, forcing you to restart the game. That way, while your game loads the server is loading all of the next stuff. Two plusses; a fresh game cache and time for the server to get ready.

Not an expert here but my two cents....
You first connect and then the game starts in online mode. You loose connection game ends. Makes sense to me.
Why would you want the game to continue after the host lost you anyway?
-
The game doesnt start in online mode. The game starts at a menu and you select online or offline. Then it connects to the server. What he means is when he loses Host Connection, as I do, the game crashes to the desktop instead of back to the initial menu. Allthough annoying, I would rather it go to the desktop because then AH gets to start fresh.
At any rate, you're not alone.

Fication from Clara
I was only relating this to online mode. Pretty tough to have the host loose you in offline mode.

Very true. But why does the game crash to the desktop when loosing connection in online mode and not just crash back to the menu where you would choose online or offline mode? I think that is the question. At least it's mine. :)

Ya got me. I guess I'm more of an 'acceptor' than I am 'inquisitor'.
How the heck do I get my foot outa this bear trap?? :)

It is done to insure a clean start of the game. No chance of a memory leak when doing it this way. After all, we have no idea why a computer would lose its connection and the reasons are numerous. Some of which can only be cleared up by the application exiting.
