them bastards--tis why we will need an ABM system. :D
-
Ludicrous.
The Iraqi's shot a surface to air missile ballistically in the general direction of an E-2. This has absolutely nothing to do with ICBMs or the ABM treaty.
-
Oh dear.
Why don't we just nuke the bastards. The only good Iraqi is a dead Iraqi.
-
Good plan Dowding. First Iraq, then Great Britain, then Canada! On to victory!!! :D
-
I was joking.
But your plan has merit. ;)

I was at a party once, some dude I knew was leaving to join the marines.
Nice party, lots of drugs and alcohol, music girls etc.
As usual,we ran out of beer,so I hopped in a car with the soon-to-be-marine`s stepdad and the neighbor.I`m in the backseat, and these two are talking about Bosnia. It was at the time when they sent in the first UN units.
They disaggreed with sending US troops there, and the neighbor came up with a different solution.
He said since nuking the place would be too harsh, the US should just use chemical weapons on them bosnians.
"WTF" I was thinkin` to myself

Hmmm... Wonder what the US would do if the Iraqis had a Il-76 Mainstay circling Dallas? :D
-
I say let the Danes rule the world.
There'd be such a common hatred towards taxes that we'd all just fight one government.
Maybe we could even have a designated siland where those who wanted could fight it out.
Would be cool.

If we were a sandflea infested country like Iraq, we'd sit there and take like they do or risk gettin our arse kicked .. again :)

It has everything to do with both.
Seems it was closer than first reported: http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20010725/ts/iraq_usa_aircraft_dc_3.html (http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20010725/ts/iraq_usa_aircraft_dc_3.html)

SOB You forgot France!!!

I would just like to point out that the British still rule the world and always will do. George Bush is actualy controled by the british who have picutres of him buggering a sheep.
So the americans do what we say. The americans tell the Iraqies the oposite of what the british want them to do. Because the iraqies always do the oposite of what the americans tell them to they will actualy be doing what we want them to do. So in all fairness the british have control over the whole world.

lets just hope that if we do go to war with sadam husain again bush jr dont popsicle out like his dad and just let us kill him. in my opinion it would save the whole world a whole lot of grief and roadkill that we dont need. thats just my opinion. anyone agree?

Now, what would a U2 be doing flying over Iraq?
Taking pictures of all the starving children perhaps?
Just kidding.
Obviously we're there to keep the oil fields safe for democracy.
God help the economy if the sales of Lincoln Navigators fall off.

Gentlemen, don't under estimate the great leader of the Iraqi people,Sadam.
He has had his entire airforce secretly training in AH and after a year have enough perk points to order 500 chogs!!!!!
-
pimpjoe - and when Iraqi civilians are taking pot shots at passing American AFVs (and probably British ones too), pictures of the casualties of those attacks are all over CNN and the Arab states are screaming blue murder because of this unjust 'American aggression' against an Arab brother - will it seem like such a great idea then?
Perhaps the US should promise the Kurds a country of their own (again) for rising up against Saddam.
"Show us you can fight, and we'll gladly support you" is something the Kurds have been hearing for the last 50 years.

i just think that if bush sr. wouldnt have called a hault to the attack on the base where sadam was at and killed him we wouldnt have all the problems that we have today conserning iraq. thats all. most of them anyway.
-
Hindsight is 20/20. Bush Sr. did exactly what he planned to do as part of an international coalition, liberate Kuwait. The U.S. had no sanction to act beyond this objective. The task wasn't easy. To liberate Kuwait without angering the Arab nations who may respect the U.S. but the have little reason for trust. This is why there were many nations involved, not just the United States.
Even 10 years after, you can read the accounts and opinions from the generals that accomplished the objective. You won't find many (if any) that would agree that pushing into Baghdad would have been the right thing to do.
Please explain, Eagler. What does a SAM launch at a U.S. spy plane have to do with ICBM threats and ABM treaties? Is it simply because it proves that Iraq is not just a roque nation, it's a hostile one. As hostile as any country can be after a decade of being under the military thumb of foreign governments.
The sanctions have not worked. Hussein still holds the palace and has worked it to the point where the U.S. is considered by more than a few to be the bad guy responsible for the deaths of innocent Iraqi citizens. Sure, if Bush would have forced the issue all the way to Baghdad, we would not have our planes being shot at. Of course, we would probably not be there at all today, but it's foolish to think that the removal of one man can bring stability to southwest Asia.
