Since a lot of us want the Spit 16 perks please just say "I do" or somehting along the lines in this topic. MODS IF U CAN PLEASE STICKY THIS IT WOULD BE GREAT!!!. Hopefully wiht enough votes we can get that thing perked.

I think you are wrong. I've flown the XVI just a handful of times, and I still say no. So in the very least, it's Spit XVI pilots + 1.

EDIT: tho I would go for them putting very small perk expenses, say 1, 2, or 3, on all of the 5 ENY planes.

And no, i dont fly it either. I have *one* attack sortie in that plane and that one didnt end well at all.
If you perk the Spit16, you also need to perk the La7, the N1K, the Ki84, the Pony (and that would *never* happen) etc etc..... untill the only ones not perked are Hurri1 , Spit1, P40B and C202.
IMHO, the Spit16 is *not* overused at all. Yes you see it often, but hey, its a good fighter. But you also see Spit9s 8s, even 5s..... Id rather the Spit14 gets unperked, but thats another thread. And then the Spit16 isnt all that hard to shoot..... unless you happen across the wrong pilot in it, but thats not the planes fault, is it?

I say perk it, I've flown it and many others, it feels like a low alt beast of the 14, 14's perked and it's a high alt fighter. So I say:

Take it from it's current 1943 18lbs boost Merlin, and up it to a 1944/5 25lbs boost Merlin.
Then watch the whines pour in :) . (give the Pony 150 octane also)

At what point did you "pay" to have the spit 16 specifically?
And if it were perked it it wouldnt be taken away, it would still be available but as with the other perked items in the game you would have to earn the ability to use it.
As an all around fighter its better then any of the other perked or (non perked for that matter) plane IMO and as such should be perked.
Oh and I would not be adverse to perking the La7 or the Niki either.
I just dont think they deserve it as much as the spit 16 does

Funny all this over what is basically a 1943 Spit LF IX, in an MA that is still dominated by 1944/45 rides.
Yup add them up - The 1944/5 rides are still collectively the dominating choice.

I've flown one or two sorties in it. I much prefer the Spit VIII, Ki-84, Mossie, Bf109G-14 or Fw190A-5. And it makes life hell for the last three on my list. I still say no.

Wonder if the icon tag and plane option read Spitfire LF IXe instead of Spitfire XVI would this discussion be taking place?
Psychological thing?
i.e. XVI is higher Mk than XIV so must be a later better, faster variant. Unless you know your Spits you'd assume so.

I think that about hits the nail on the head.
I flew a few Spit16 sorties tonight. Admittedly, its not a bad plane, but, im pretty sure id have had about the same success in a Spit8 or Spit9. And honestly, the fuel range is quite a bit annoying, especially if you cannot pack a slipper due to continuosly porked ordenance/fuel.
So my votes still NO.

It was introduced as a none perked plan in the game wich you pay a monthly fee.
If it is then made to a perk plan it has been taken away.
Now from jow I understand the reson for perk rides is to make it a more level playing field.
Just imagine if there were no perk planes LOL everyone would be jet pilots.
But I have seen nothing in this plane that should make it perked.

I say no on perking the XVI.
While I think it is the best overall non-perked plane there are still many planes that at the very least can disengage from a fight with one if they decide too.

why perk it in the first place? Just learn how to fight it like all of us learned to fight the lalas and spits. if it's a problem with it out running you, fly a lala, outtruning you? fly a hurri or a6m. For the love of god, the perk system is fine LA7's, N1K's, Spit16's all have an eny value of 5 which is good enough IMHO just fly smarter.

Using the theory from my post why perk it or anything some people cant play the time it takes to earn perks and perking it just lets experianced pilots use it and keeps it out of the hands of nubs.

Earning perks, and putting a cap on the ammount of perks one can have are two completely different things. To perk the spit16, or all planes under 8eny for that matter to a cost of 2-4 perks would be nothing. OTOH it wouldu force many people flying these now low priced perk planes to fly like *****es.

I rarely fly spits at all, unless I'm letting friends play that are visiting and want to check out the game; or in the CT due to a specific setup. They find it easy to take off and handle but I guarantee you they're not getting any kills in it unless by pure luck.
Put a goldfish behind the wheel of a Ferrari and I'll race it on foot for all the money in my bank account. Unless it's a nuclear goldfish, those things are s-m-r-t, smrt!
In short, I vote 'no' on the perk.

I'm not sure if it's because there are more of them around, but to me, it seems the Spit 16 is easier to kill than the other Spits. This is from the perspective of flying P-51B's, C.205's, and Bf 110's. I was thinking it might be because the Spit 16 doesn't turn as well as the other Spits -- and, yes, if everyone flew to the strengths of the Spit 16, it might not be easier to kill. However, a lot of people just get immediately into stallfighting with any Spit.
As far as perks go, it depends on what the goal is. If the goal is just to keep planes that weren't flown much in WWII not flown much in AH, that's one thing. If it's to promote use of a variety of aircraft, that's another thing and not how perks are working today. For the later, you'd need to adjust perk points adaptively, adding perks to more-popular planes.

The spit 16 has to be perked. i know why its here and it wont be perked. It came out same time as AH was showing commercials. This plane is designed to be easy for the newcomers. Its meant to level the playing field.what used to take years to master a dog fight now takes only a flight or two to master.it took to long for some people the game was too hard..
I can see why the spit16 came coming form a buisness owners point of view..you want the game to appeal to the masses not just the hard line pilots trying to be the best dog fiter on the planet.
But what makes me sick is the amount of "seasoned" pilots flying them. You need a kill that bad? should be emmbarresing to say so but you do when u fly a 16.for a seasoned pilot to fly the 16 is like bringing a gattling gun to a knife fight.some see no problem doing that..thats why i think the integrity of the game is lost and the game has spoiled.i see a newb flying it i understand..i see a guy whos been flying for years i think its shameless.. but thats how our society has become.win at all cost..nothing else matters.
this type of behavior is making the game unbearable..i play less and less everyday.i couldnt wait to play at night.but now i'd rather fall alseep on the couch..who needs the agrivation? the "cheez-ery".

Wrong - The Spits were changed for the following reasons
Spit I - 1940
Spit V - 1941
Spit IX - 1942
Spit VIII - 1943
Spit XVI/XIV - 1944
Compared to old lineup
Spit I - 1940
Spit IX - 1942 (hybrid)
Spit V - 1943 (uber boosted)
Spit XIV - 1944
So, the old Spit V was the mid-war uber boosted one that people complained about. It is now more properly a Vb and falls into 41 NOT 43.
The IX had the .50cals removed to make it a proper 1942 F IX.
The VIII and XVI were added to fill the free 43 slot, and a non-perked 1944 Spit.
Anyone with sense can see why things were changed.
Nothing to do with commercials.
The current lineup is considered the MINIMUM amount to get a fair representation.
The perfect lineup would re-introduce the old V as a 1943 clipped LF V, add the XII (1943, first production Griffon Spit), and if lucky the F.21 to fill the 1945 time slot.

its not a troll..he constantly whines on 200 about it. i like it cuz i have a chance against the 3 or 4 or 5 who invariably attack at once, normally from alt in a "real"plane bnzing me to death from 2k above and yell victory when their jug-25 takes me out on 5th pass.

either unperk the 14 .... or perk the 16 too ... there pritty much the same plane . the 16 may even have the edge on the 14 .

I don't have any fear when I fly a spit16.
I can catch an LA7 with a bit of alt and stick with him.
I can climb with a k4 so he isn't getting away.
With my roll I can turn with any plane. (unlike a spit8, and lol does anyone really flat turn?)
Unlike every other slow plane, 190, I am followin you in a dive, brah.
KI84, don't try your vertical garbage, and btw, when you drop your flaps I can outaccelerate you.
But personally I don't care if it's perked or not. If it is the whole "added to make it easier for new people to stay around marketing", the more the merrier. Plus it's a fun plane to fly.

i fly the hurri alot and its remarkable...one or 2 bullets in enemy and splat..you are taking serious chances doing anything but high speed passes on a good hurri driver

They are NOTHING like even remotely pretty much the same plane.
XVI - Merlin 266 @ 1700HP optmised low alts
XIV - Griffon 65 @ 2000HP optimised high alts
You think they're pretty much the same?
Take a XVI to 25k+ and watch a XIV dance rings round it.

Hmmmm .... I have yet to find anything out-accelerate or gain enough E to outrun those 20mm cannons at D400.

when I fly it, yes it needs perking.
when I'm not flying it, no perking needed.
my solution, don't fly it. unless I'm feeling real lazy.
as for perking it for the rest of the arena, no.
killing the 16 isn't hard.
just learn what it can and can't do. use that knowledge to whack it. < that goes for just about any plane.

Perk the Spit XVI, oh spare me. It's no better than any of the other tight turners.
Here is my test results:
Fast enough to get you into trouble, slow enough NOT to get you out of trouble.
Vulches the same as any other plane. (As for vulching, god help me but I do love it so...)
Shoots chutes no better than any other plane...
The P51 and LA7 actually cherry picks better.
As for the Ho Ho Ho.....give me a N1K or 110.
And you'll loose a collision almost everytime.
(please note - I don't do bombs so I have no toolshed data)

Itsa no perkie.
It merely replaced the La-7 as the whine du jour. Its not a new plan to grow HTC's finances, its just an easier forgiveing plane to fly -- like the La-7.
And like the La-7, if you keep dying helplessly to it, it seems like it needs to be perked. Really -- better SA and better ACM de-perk many planes!
And BTW, I have one sortie and 3 kills in it this tour -- my main rides are p-47s.
