I've had mine for about a week and it flies great! Got some LiPo batteries on order for better flight time and enough payload to add my wirelss video camera :)

without the special batteries, what kind does it take, and what is their life?

Needs 4 AA's for the Tx. Comes with an 8 cell 350 mah NiMh battery (good for about 3-5 minutes) and charger (about 1 hour re-charge) for the UFO. The LiPo battery upgrade will give 10-15 minutes flight time.

ok so what is the flight time? 5 minutes, then a 2 hour re-charge? or is it decent, like 20 min flight, 1 hour charge? (better ratio)

Got em off EBAY. Got mine when they still sold ones with sound, new ones don't have it. Mine are very similar to these.
