Any chance of gettin subs and cargo ships?

search the forums, its been requested many times, all with the answer 'no' :)


BUT, cargo ships WOULD be cool, have them float about randomly and get points for killing them

Actually the answer hasn't been "no", but that they require a lot of coading.. :)

Basicly how they would work, is simalar to how convoys and gunners work. You wouldn't just be able to launch a sub then have to drive it for hours to it's destination. What would happen is a subs way points would be set. They would drive themslefs to where you wanted. Once on some one could take control of one of the subs.

Other things also need to be written for subs to be implemented namly sonar for surface ships and depth charges.

If you want subs, and you want it done right the best way is to play a sub game.

I don't think AH should get that far off course.  Ah is supposed to be a flight game.

Subs are too fast; I vote for mines.  Easier to operate too; all you have to do is sit there and wait.

Subs WOULD add an extra dynamic for pilots, especially those that historically carried out ASW operations (TBF, etc).

uh  Subs too fast?

They could go about 18kts on surface and like 7kts underwater, the earlier ones.
How fast is that compared to surface ships?

But they didn't move at 30 knots all the time... they need to decrease the speed of the task forces in AH so torpedos are a more viable weapon.

there r cargo ships i guess for i see barges in the water while we are trying to take a base "SHOOT IT! AHHH ITS GUNA RESUPPLY THE TOWN!!!!!"

A carrier is still the same size no matter how fast it's hauling along. There's a document around the net somewhere done by an old squaddie of mine on exact torpedo useage uding masts and guns as aim points. Apparently my whole squad had marks in their monitors (a little extreme to me :lol) for the PT torps and sank ships like crazy.
