I grew up around their in the 50's.... It was paradise then.

I haven't spent much time their lately but still have relatives around their... it is pretty much crap now as much as I have seen of it.

Is it because immigrants now live there? ;)

The best thing about Long Beach is that Newport Beach, Huntington Beach and Laguna Beach are close by.

The Port area is ugly and the traffic on hwy 7 sucks big time just about any time of the day but forgetabout it during the rush hours.

I used to have a client located in the port area so my opinion reflects my limited knowledge of the area. Did most of my work there on the bay or flying above, it's a beautiful city from that perspective.

tikky... nooo... it is because too many people live there now.   the reason my parents left there was because it was too crowded.   I actualy lived in hawthorn and the neighborhoods were all white with about 40% jap families.

the jap families were true "immigrants" tho... not illegal aliens.

It is just too crowded there now... the streets I lived on didn't even have sidwalks... every lot on the "block" (more like 3 modern blocks) had about a 200' deep lot... open fields all over and orange groves... perfect weather

paradise.

i have been there a few times. seems nice enough. its kinda like the poor man's Los Angeles. the beaches are, well, california beaches (which cant be beat:aok .) i wouldnt see anything wrong with staying there by yourself for a month.

San Diego is a much nicer vacation location in my opinion.  I lived there for 17 years growing up, and it's still a great place to go back to for visits.

I recommend at least one day trip to Catalina Island off the coast of southern california (near long beach actually), or make it a 2-3 day trip and really see the island.  It's not as exotic as a caribbean island but it's nice.

California...eww. Go to Hawaii. Go to Pearl Harbour. Its something you will never forget. OR you can come to Buffalo. We have umm...snow, a bass pro shop in a few years, a casino in a few years, a new waterfront park in a few years, a sales tax cut in a few years (only 8.75 cents now), Niagra Falls (Canadian side is better), a winning football team in a few years, and lets see....oh yea! Nothing.

Spend a few bucks on a beater like Eskimo's, and a week's worth of road trip, it's worth it.

buffalo is  a nice place.  at least i think so. (maybe labotomy didnt take) i like the waterfront from the skyway down. north of the peace bridge sux.walden mall, wegmans across the street. lots of great mom and pop resturants. never could get the hang of roastbeef on wyck.  ya the canadien side is nice. casinos, titty bars and lap dances tied to a barber chair. ya i would choose buffalo over long beach any day.

Parts of LB are horrible, the other parts are too expensive.

Long Beach has some very nice parts, but like LA also has some less than nice parts. Can't say it more simply than that.
