http://www.iwmcollections.org.uk/

Search war in the air, color. World War 2

Narrow it to Spitfire for example and all kinds of good color shots show up.

Great stuff.

Many thanks Guppy:

I did a search for "Mosquito", and came across several shots of a memorial service near a village in Denmark for a 418 Squadron crew who crashed there. The bodies were removed by the occupation authorities, (apparently civilian, not military), and never recovered.

I have been corresponding for some time with a gent from a nearby town - a journalist who helped organise a commemorative service on the 60th anniversary of the crash. I believe he is also preparing a small book on the crew. I was very moved to know that even so long after the end of the war, the crew were remembered by the Danes.

I don't know if he's seen these shots - I must let him know they are at the IWM. Again, many thanks for the link.
