For those of you that bought an X52 and complain about it having to much throw on the stick. Go to your game controller setup in the control panel and properties then set the dead zones on the outside of the sliders in and walla you can have the thing as sensitive as you want.
I just had to put this in here cause I've herd alot of people complain about it being to mushy and having to yank the stick way over to turn and one guy said he was going to put this great stick on the shelf in his closet because of this throw problem and he had only had it for 1 day. I don't have much of a problem with the way it is but I was messing around with the settings and made my plane roll so fast with just a tiny bit of deflection on the stick I crashed my plane on take off. :D

Really? I have found my X52 to be WAY more sensitive than my X45. I am having to retrain myself not to pull as much as I did with the X45 and try to have smaller movements with the X52.

Got X52 for Xmas, 2 weeks later, said X52 was back the posession of Best Buy.

I suggest anyone with an X52 check the x and y axis at the windows interface.
With all dead zones set to zero gently move the stick to full deflection in both +/- on both axis whilst watching the cross hair.
You will find that the cross hair reaches full scale deflection long before your stick does.
This will also vary widely from stick to stick.
Mine was one of the first X52's and I sent it back for repair because I was getting FSD at less than 50% throw of the stick its now somewhere between 60 and 70%...........I would like 100%
For me fidelity is to set the stick at the most precise angle and I want as big as throw as possible.........If i could stick the thing on the floor and have a 3 ft stick I would

After 15 years of flight sims and trying every stick made under the sun. IMHO the X-52 is 2nd only to a full CH HOTAS setup.

Just got an X52 after my x45 lost a hat (thank you, best buy guarantee!).
Maybe its the contrast, but I LOVE the 52. With the 45 the spring was stiff and would kick in just a few degrees off center...so with fine movements I'd have nothing, nothing, KICK to the side. The 52 is silky smooth. I've noticed no problems with the throw at all.
My hit% and KPD have jumped significantly, and I really believe the 45 was holding me back.
I expect though that it will start to fade in 8-12 months, and my next purchase will be a CH.

I personally hate the feel of the CH stick, it doesnt fel smooth when making anything but x/y movements, anything diagonal feels like a double clutch as each axis 'breaks free' of the initial resistance. The sticks are also too big. Its fine for huge handed people, but anyone with med or small hands will have issues. Even when modded to add hight to the non existant palm rest, several functions are out of easy reach.
The X-52 allows you to adjust for hand size and feels 100x smoother.

Mine was too mushy. Ive said it before...felt like a mop in a bucket. Tilt, I prefer minute throw. I just want to barely move the stick and have it react.Funny how we all have different preferences.

The deadzone issue was fixed with a new firmware in sticks SN # s00245477 and higher , for people with a dead zone issue , check the serial number, odds are you have the original firmware . I love the X-52 with the update , its very responsive and percise, but the original was unplayable for me ,and frustrating as hell .

ahh! the old 20 bucks off at best buy

there is more info on the saitek fourms , as far as updating a fix for this , the firmware is unflashable. the only way to fix the problem is to return it to the store , or send it to saitek . http://www.saitekforum.com/index.php?
That is the link to the forums , you have to register to see the x-52 forum . 38

No idea, wife got it. I did however trade it at BB for the box set of Akira Kurosawa movies. I think I won that deal.

So that guarantee is worth something?
So if my X45 breaks, they will give me a X52 as a replacement?
If so, oops...I think one of my buttons just quit working...hello X52.
I hate the X45 because the spring is just too damn stiff. I've tried binding it up with zip cable ties but they move around and the tension is never the same once the spring rotates and the ties move.
My old MS Percision Pro crapped out and I went to Best Buy and got a X45. Seemed ok at the store but the one out of the box seemed to have a spring from hell. Sometime past the 90 day return policy (go figure) I'm in Best Buy and guess what...no more X45's, they only have the X52. ARGHHHHHHHHH!!! It felt so smooth and I wanted one but it was past 90 days!

I like the X52 overall, but for the longest time I wasn't sure. Many times I went back to my Thrusmaster Top Gun, (which is also a VERY reliable cheap stick BTW) mainly because the throw was a lot smaller, which made me a lot better in fighters. I still don't do very well in fighters with the X52, but I'm still trying to get back to where I was before. The main problem I have now is keeping the stick base free of dust, as I live in the middle of a bunch of onion & sugar beet fields. I'm having to use rubbing alcohol on tissue paper, which seems to work for a while.

This really helped me with that:
Go to the Joysticks settings in AH...the one that has all the sliders.
Set all the sliders to maximum..all the way to the top. Do this for roll and for pitch.
It stopped all that jumping around for me and gave me almost total control. My gunnery improved dramatically afterwards.

Thanks Curval...I will try it..right now I have all sliders in those 3 catagories
starting at top right and working their way down and to the left bottom.

Well I got the "advice" from a thread by a really good "stick" and in absolute frustration I tried it. It really worked well for me...let me know if it helps you.

I was recently advised to do the following when I asked why my ranges seem restricted
Unplug the controller, click Start>Run, type regedit and click OK. In the Registry Editor browse to the following folders in order:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
MediaProperties
PrivateProperties
DirectInput
And delete the VID_06A3&PID_0255 folder. Plug the controller back in, rotate and twist the stick fully a couple of times and see if that has fixed it.
and it did....it certainly improved stuff generally.
after which i have also reset the sliders for pitch and roll to 100%.
