Does someone pay them to demonstrate or do they have to take a vacation day to throw things at the police? Or are they college "students" skipping class to express, er themselves?
Unbelievable!

Hmm, 20's is when you feel 'undefiable' and 'immortal'...30's is when you either "Save the Whales" or have babies...40's you turn conservative, and feel lucky that your premonition that your parents would outlive didn't come true....50's you start acting like your 20 again, 60's you intestines start working like you were 1 years old again...on and on and on and on.... Who cares. The "protesters" are idiots and no one(except the Media)gives a crap.

Ah yes, trust Eagler to condemn anybody who works for change outside of system.
Not everybody should have a 8-5 job.
-
Karnak, didn't you know the 'system' is absolutely perfect? Just look at how our societies work; how can you improve on perfection?
People who are not satisfied with their lives or 'the way things are' are dangerous deviants and should locked up for their own good.
I bet they are communist wreckers to a man. Golly-geen those reds!
-
Naw, the flags waved were Anarchy (I don't mean symbolicly, they were literally waving anarchy flags). As if somehow under an anarchal system of government you might get the regulations they're looking for (?).
What was hoped for was that the police would react in a manner that would allow them to do an "I told you so" about police brutality and capitalistic oppression. Thankfully the canadian police did an admirable job holding their line and doing nothing amid thrown rocks, bottles, and anything else black clad gas mask wearing "civil protesters" could hurl at them.
-
there is a lot of "rent a mob" organizations here in US. Jesse Jackson is the patron saint of many of them.
-
Strange how no one actually from Canada has posted here yet. Oh...now one has.
-
Im just ignoring them..hoping they go away.
edit: Im from Ottawa

Eagler, do you even know what the protesters are fighting for?
Or should anyone not marching in step with the Fatherland be lined up and shot?
Check 'em out. Who knows, maybe they're fighting for your well being too. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
-
Yeah Eagler! Don't you know those fighting for anarchy are fighting for you?
-
Fighting??? Some of those spoiled brats are just "fighting" until their Trust Funds go into effect.
The rest are just air-head hippie wannabe Luddites doing what they always do. Avoid work.

I recently got into it at the DMV of all places with this woman and a guy who had a sign outside on a table. They are killing innocnet people stop nazism now. I finished my business inside and strolled on over to their table.
Me: So who is doing this killing?
Woman: Our government.
ME: How so?
Woman: They are tearing down a hospital that gives free service for the poor.
ME: Interesting, so do you have proof that this so called NAZI government is actually killing people? Do you even know what a nazi is? Or are you just throwing out a wqord that catches peoples attention and draws you to your little half assed setup table?
WOMAN: By them tearing down this hospital, it is causing the loss of lives for people who cannot afford to go to a hospital to recieve medical attention. Nazis were a terrible race of people that committed murder on the Jews.
WOMAN: So what do you think should be done about this situation?
ME: Well first off too bad, second why don't they get a job, learn a trade, stop collecting welfare sucking my tax dollars for their laziness.
Ok now she is ripe and fully pissed at me
WOMAN: So what you are saying is for them to go out and get a pair of knee pads and pants with a zipper in the back?
MEN: Prostitution? Never said that, said learn a trade not get laid.
WOMAN: So people who will incur a disease just so they can work that is right?
ME: Hey its legal in Vegas!
WOMAN: Kneepads and a zipper in the back of the pants is what we feel for these people, we are screwing them over and not helping maybe they are in a time of need.
ME: What I need is for you to stop squeaking about something that means little to the average person. Your using politcal statements that mean toejam, and your views on society are twisted.
WOMAN: Fuc% you
ME: Not very polite for someone trying to express love and feeling towards the population. "Starting to come unraveled I burst out laughing"
WOMAN: It is people like you why this nation is becoming a trrible place to live.
MEN: Yeah but you got to love it Vegas has legal prostitution, isn't this country great? And another thing my taxes pay for you to have the right and sit out here and spew your idiotic views of our government which has helped you to have freedom of speech.
This just happened to me and I tried to remember as much of the conversation as possible I wrote down a good portion as soon as I got home. The guy who was with her just stood there never said a word, very passiv and reserved you might say. After I was done speaking he had this look no his face like well maybe he is right. LOL

There were protesters walking the international bridge in cornwall yesterday, from both sides shutting it down. Literally bus loads of police, one for every protester were on hand. Its hard to get roudy when the police equal or outnumber your mob (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) The media gave it a short blurb on the news. Most people dont really care. Its a non issue.

Checked em out their idiots.
I dont need people like this fighting for me.
-
The funniest (saddest?) thing I saw at these protests on TV was this 20 year-old guy wearing a red shirt with a yellow hammer and sickle and the words CCCP or USSR. Apparently this idiot protesting for worker's rights, workplace safety, and environmental safeguards somehow thinks that communist governments give a flying diddly about such things. Former Communist parts of Eastern Europe are some of the more polluted parts of the world, there are chemical wastes, radiation hazards, etc. As for worker's rights and safety well lets just say communist countries did not invest extensively in latest safety devices and training.
Honestly where do these people get their ideas? At my college there are apparently teachers preaching the virtues of communism/socialism and the evils of capitalism. What are these people thinkig, have any of them lived in a communist country? I have, and well I think they are diddlying Idiots and I hope for their sake they mature soon.
-
Alot of them are "professional protestors"
Alot are there just for the thrill of confronting authority.
Some might even actually be there for 'the cause'
-
Perhaps some of them might actually have a point - the news services only concentrate on the idiots, because the flailing battons and flying bottles make great viewing.
Peaceful demonstrating is the cornerstone of the democratic mandate - without it you might as well be living in China or North Korea. Their streets are very peaceful - oh, yeah, and their torture chambers and jails are full.
Some people if they don't like a situation will go out and demonstrate against it - I admire them and actively encourage it. But I dislike immensely the idiotic fringe who not only trivialise any legitimate point being made, but endanger our right to demonstrate.
-
At first, my initial thought was about the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution... ya know... the part about "right to assemble"... but on second thought, it's Canada. They don't have that piece of paper standing in the way of conformity of the masses.
I've been living in Washington D.C. now for six months. I work with quite a few people who take leave and extend lunch if a protest suits them. So... believe it or not... some of these people hold jobs. Of course, I can't speak for Quebec.

Prostitution is not legal in Las Vegas.

Next county or something isn't it Liz?
Back on topic that wasn't a protest, it wasn't an assembly, it was a riot.
There actually has been pretty good coverage of the people's summit (the meeting of those opposed to WTO, NAFTA, etc) all week. I don't agree with a lot of what they want to present, but I've no problem with them at all. They were going to have a meeting with the summit leaders, but since a day was lost to this nonsense it's probably not going to happen anymore - thanks to about 500-1000 twits.
-
lol! (post from canada)
im sorry but anyone that sets up an international summit in quebec is fediddlein retarded...
a lot of the people who live there are hella seperatist( in know a few personally, they make me giggle)
you dont hold a conference on behalf of your goverment in a province that hates the federal government..it just is so obvious
sad thing is there were tons of peaceful demonstrators who got fediddleed around because a few crazies...oh well back to the farm for me (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Eagler, prolly 90% of the demonstrators don't know why they are there and if you asked them what they believe and why they are there to "fight" you will walk away scratching your head as their answers would dumbfound ya!!
I challenge the media to get these idiots to speak on camera. Then America could see what their hard earned $$ buy at US universities!!!! Prolly 5 years from now these demonstrators will have kids, a good paying job, house, and expensive car.
They will also have lotsa questions regarding their past beliefs!! Nothing like the real world to add perspective (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

BTW, where does this 90% figure come from? So you did a survey that was biased to your viewpoint? Or is it another unsubstanciated assertion?
You are saying that 90% of the people who demonstrate are idiots. So demonstrations are 'stupid'? And then you worry about America being less free, or the commies taking away your country?
LOL
