Oh its happening...oh yes.
I'm going skiing in Quebec. I leave here on Saturday, arrive Mt. Tremblant on Sunday.
I just looked at the weather reports...they say its gonna rain today there. RAIN? In Quebec? In January????
I sure hope the US signs that treaty thingy....and soon. It is getting in the way of my ski holidays.
:cry
-
Did you lock up your house before you left?

This pond is tapped out Curval. Try netting.

Every since the earth has formed there have been extremes. Mini cycles of off the charts weather.
Little Ice Age in Europe during the dark ages.
The dirty 30's in the US during the depression.
No one has been saying it, but it acts like an el nino year to me.
Floods in Southern California, mild temps & ice storms up north.
Granted the weather has been funky the last couple of years and yes, it looks like it could be getting worse.
Is "global warming" my first answer? Hmmm no, could be the "end of the world as we know it" though!
They have not even scientificly proven that global warming exists yet.
Or at least hadn't the last I heard.
-
We've had 27" of new snow in a 24 hour period in the Cascade ski areas. I think the base is something like 115 inches. Come out to WA state Curval! :)
-
lock your scooter and bring a surfboard

Come to Oregon instead, Curvy. When you're done skiing, you can take a side trip to the beach and see beautiful in a whole new way (no, I'm not talking about a special walk and handholding session, though that can be arranged :D).
-
Well, I would like to change locations except it has been booked for months and we'd lose our cash if we backed out now.
There is just a weird warm spell going through Quebec right now...if it was colder we'd be skiing in fresh powder.
...and the locking jokes, scooter jokes...they are HILARIOUS guys. WTG.:aok
-
I actually forgot about your carelessness in regards to properly securing your property, until you reminded me of it yesterday in another thread, Curv. :t
-
Wasn't that post locked? Should have been..;see what happens now?
:t
-
There is no such thing as global warming. Chuck Norris was cold, so he turned the sun up.
-
Just checked with the resort...the rain has turned into "freezing rain" and they forecast it to turn to snow by tonight, which *should* negate any loss of snow from the rain.
Then the weather is expected to get cold again with snow almost every day we are there.
My fingers are crossed.
-
We're heading to Walt Disney World in May for a week, wonder if it will snow? :huh
-
Rip,
Have you been before?
We took our boys two years ago, and stayed onsite. If you need any helpful hints, let me know.

Yes, been there 3 times before. Thanks for the offer though. :)
First time with our boys we stayed at Allstar Sports, this time we're staying at Animal Kingdom Resort. :aok (Wonder if I can check my .270 with the leopold in as baggage?)

Global warming could mean snow in florida! :p
Seriously, enjoy the trip. I suspect it will be a fun trip, regardless of the weather conditions. :aok You flying airbus or boeing? (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/images/smilies/aim-angel.gif)
-
Dunno Rip, but if it's Boeing, I'll still be going.:lol

I know man...pathetic. FREAKING GLOBAL WARMING. (I told you man.)
Rebooking would cause me to basically burn $2,000...not gonna happen.

Yes, but it is only January 18th...the Quebec season goes well into March. They will have some great snow there...probably the week after I leave.

You think MiniD was mean when you got your Scooter stolen, just wait for the water from the melted icecaps to steel your whole house!
:D
-
MiniD wasn't "mean", he was just being an arrogant and preaching "richard". Such is his nature.
Besides most of Florida, Mississipi, Alabama and all of Louisiana will go before my house.:p
-
I heard that enough sacrificial chicken pot pies will appease the snow gods.
But remove the peas first. They hate that.
Good Luck! :p

Noted re: the peas...but it will be tough to get the peas out of the frozen Swanson Pot Pie my wife picked up yesterday for this purpose without breaking the crust. Are they okay with fractured crusts?
-
french bread pizza is better.
-
Are you trying to offend the snow gods, Curv??
SWANSON FROZEN....(I can't even type the words Chicken Pot Pie next to that  )
If you wish to avoid locust, utter chaos, and total calamity on your Frenchie Ski Trip, you will run, not walk, to return that abomination to the store shelf and build a Chicken Pot Pie from scratch, and show it the respect and reverence it deserves!!
The faint of the Quebec is in your hands! :noid
-
Alright String cut it out...you are putting voodoo mojo on my ski trip. I don't have time to make it from scratch. If I break my leg I'm gonna come to Kansas City...and ...umm...yell stuff at you...then we'll go for ribs (with Toad and Rude of course).
;)

Curval, maybe you should pack your golf clubs too (just in case) :)

I find the putter a most handy tool for removing idiots from your ski path. :D

All the best with this trip! Don't break any bones...
I'm taking a break myself next week - heading down to the Canary Islands to escape the big freeze that's on its way. It will be nice and warm down there - mid 20s C. I don't like that cold stuff!
Still, it's great that we can do these trips whenever we feel like it - because we can! Feels good to live in the free world. :D (Lazs calls us "The Money Guys" - LOL)
-
FREEDOM!!!!! :)
lol@the "money guys" comment...he claims I have a trophy wife and that she married me for money. This ski trip is actually a Christmas gift from her. She has her own money having sold the house she had in Toronto...but she still owns a condo up there.
I just have to get through today and I'm off. I fly to Toronto tomorrow, overnight at my buddy's place and then we drive to Quebec on Sunday.
Life is good.:aok

Curval, do you know any information about the U.S. tax system, specifically AMT? If so, I need to ask you some questions...I can email you if you know something about the AMT...
-
Rip, I know OF it...Alternative Minimum Tax right?
It's been too many years since I was up on it...that was back when I wrote the CPA exam. I would not recommend relying on my advice on that.

Beet1e said you called us the "money guys" so he will have to answer that one. The trophy wife comment was over at the FDB boards...normally I don't do cross posting but here it is:
"still wanna know if you are getting your views from all your girlfriends or it is purely the statements made by your trophy wife living with you off your families wealth and your trust fund."
-
Ah... soooo... you are so insecure that you crosspost a joke thread about the relative merits of mexican versus asian women on a board that would not allow half of it.
Didn't realize I had stung you so deeply or that you were so....... "sensitive".
lazs
-
Lazs you asked a simple question and I answered it. It has NOTHING to do with insecurity or sensitivity, it has EVERYTHING to do with your bad memory. Besides...sensitivity? YOU are the one who got all sensitive because I mentioned the accusation and attempted to show that I was not being honest. Your ploy backfired and now to avoid looking completely stupid you throw out silly accusations.
Par for the course I suppose.
