Looks and sounds like it has a bike engine in it.  Hayabusa mods are around.

Sounds interesting.

I think a turbo is standard on the smart car.

Yeah but that isn't a standard Smart. That thing sounds like a sportbike engine swap was done, and if it's a Hayabusa as suggested, a turbo would put it around 200-225hp?

Pretty amazing, I'd hate to see that thing get in trouble. Very top heavy, it would probably flip and disintegrate at that speed.

Yep, they are limited to 130/80 kph/mph for safety.

I'm into muscle cars and the like, but they really need to make those more readily available in the states. They are so cheap in Europe I could probably afford to have it as my commuter car. My hemi sucks waaaaaay too much gas.

Oh well.

Smarts are way overpriced at least in here. I was going to rent one in Germany, but it was more expensive than a compact.

They cost a bunch over here too. I'm averaging 10-11mpg in my truck, but I'd like something to drive in the snow, and on long trips.

If you bought a 550hp Z06 vette that gets 25 mpg and goes 200 mph...

you would have to wear out 3 smart cars in order to make enough on gas savings (over the vette)to pay for the first smart car that was now rotting in a wrecking yard.

Some for the hybrids and such at this point.... you are driving silly cars for no gain.

Way too expensive. You can get like 2 Smarts for that, if they sold at normal prices here.

Do they sell the Hyundai Getz there?  They get about 60 mpg and are very cheap.

you are missing the point... you would wear out both smarts before you would wear out the vette and you could sell the used vette for more than a new smart...

so what are you saving?

Nope lol

All we get are overpriced hybrids....currently have nothing in the 6-8 thousand dollar price range. That's what I'm talking about. A no frills box on wheels with a tiny motor.

As much as I hate to admit it, Laz has a point, and a good one.

Current Hybrids cost way more than equivilent non hybrid cars, and deliver marginal performance gains at best.

Don't get me wrong, Laz's philosophy is why we still have 10 mpg vehicles on the street. But from a purely personal $$$ perspective the hybrids don't work, yet.

What we need is to get rid of gasoline for transport entirely.

yep.. when people want em we will get crap boxes to drive... that will keep gas prices down to the point that I can afford to keep driving real cars while you guys drive those expensive, slow, boring cars that women want you to own.

This is nothing new.

i dont like the smart design, a car should look like a smart 'after' a crash, but not before ;)
