I think it would be great to be able to have a flyby view in the fighters when you are out of gun/icon range

as soon as you are within 6k, you pop back to cockpit view

It would relieve the boredom as you fly to a fight

I am sure it would be easy to code :)

I wouldn't mind that either - there are a lot of nice fighter skins being done, and I'd like to be able to admire them while on the way to a fight.

If you want to see the skins of other planes, get a wingman and fly in formation :)

Too XBox'ish.  :rolleyes:

In the real a/c you couldn't get out of your plane to admire the view - IMHO don't think you should be able to why flying in here also. We go through all the research and modeling to make the a/c as close to the real thing we can get within the limits of not actually leaving the ground would just be a backward step IMO. Would rather keep it leaning toward the "COMBAT SIM" side - not the Arcade Game.

If you want to admire yourself... err.... your airplane ;), stop by the training arena. All views enabled in there :).

You get external views when flying bombers... is that too XBoxish?
He isn't asking for external views during a furball, just when he is in transit so he can admire all the skins, terrain, etc. (i.e. hard work) that goes into making the game what it is.  

Is that really SO bad?

Actually, I wish they would drop it as well. Many use it as a "Cheat" to line the bomber up on the target. I can say that from experence having been a CO of a Bomber Squad in the CT. Many used it but I tried never to because I wanted the "experence" of doing it like a real bomber crew. Real Bombaders couldn't do it - so I always felt we shouldn't.

Will give it to you it isn't THAT BAD if you come right down to it. But I think if it was enabled it should only be in the MA, TA & H2H arenas. In the AvA it shouldn't be in use as we are trying to do things as "Historical" as possible.

I use external view in the bombers for two VERY specific reasons.

1) To check six in a Goon.

2) to shoot people down in the AR234 (if the AR234 gunsite worked I wouldn't need this case).
