So when I get to 209.186.118.2 the ping times go to hell. My ISP tech support (God bless them for trying) says drop by the office and swap out your cable modem. My speed test's show I'm OK at 3Meg download & 200K upload. I just don't see that fixing anything, it looks like a bad router to me...comments?
BTW - when I got to places that don't hit that router the Ping Plotter trace is very reasonable, around 100ms or so.

It looks like that 209 address is still inside of Charter's network. I would send this trace to them.

I have contacted them. I went by Charter and got a new Motorola cable modem, just so they couldn't use that as a crutch when I push to get this resolved. No the new modem didn't help, but we knew it wouldn't.
Is there a way for me to bypass that device? I get great ping times (40ms) when I ping hitechcreations.com instead of the game server because I don't hit that suspect device.
Also, is there a website that can tell me to whom that IP address belongs?
Thanks for your help

I tried to look for that IP, and no luck. For whats its worth though, when I try to ping it. I also get horrible results. I use Cox Cable.

When running pingplotter , You can right click on the hop in question and go to the whois option and look up the sever info . 38

That IP address is owned by Charter. It is one of thier routers. They are the only ones who can correct this issue.

i'm on charter too....if you are already a customer good luck getting any help...they only care about ppl who are ready to sign up

TY 38 - I tried it but I don't get that option (at least not on the free version)
When I ping the game server now, the IP address 209.186.118.2 is not in the path and my ping times are back to around 60ms :aok I wrote a long email to tech support last night and have yet to get a reply, but hey the problem is solved (for now) so either they fixed it and didn't bother to let me know or it's coincidental. I mean really, this issue had to be causing problems for more people than just me...
Buzkil - way back when I first got on Charter they blew me away with thier customer service but recently they've revereted back to being a typical cable company.
Thanks for the help everyone!
