You can pick these up for about $450.

(http://www.kel-tec.com/images/su-16d9&d12.jpg) Wierd the img tag for this one just will not work, clicky on linky.
Gotta pay an extra $200 tax for a "short barreled rifle" for this one.

It's a .223 pistol! Not legal in CA though, makes me wanna cry.
Where'd this Kel-Tec company come from? And how come I like the looks of all their stuff? If I weren't in the middle of my pilot training and associated expences I'd have a new toy or two.

gimmegimmegimmegimme!
my g/f's brother in law has one of these:
I've run a couple hundred rounds through it, no problems, no jams, and a whole lot of fun. Kinda plasticy feeling for me, but I'd grab one for the right price.
-
Two of my buddies have these:

that they use for concealed carry. The thing is tiny, and comes with a holster. The whole thing, in holster, looks like you're carrying a 2nd wallet. I'm thinking of getting one for concealed carry in the summer.

I've read lots of good reviews on the Keltec SU-16, so I have a CA model on order right now. They are hard to get in my area. I plan on putting a nice scope on it and plink the heck with it. I would like to have an AR-15 but being in CA it would have to be so neutered it's not worth it.

I want one of each!

Hooters? I'm not impressed. We got hotter women who can also think up here at PSU...

The SU-16 has a conventional gas piston operation and utilizes the proven M-16 breech locking system. It is compatible with standard M-16 magazines. The reciprocating bolt handle and magazine catch are on the right side, while the push bolt safety can be changed to work from either side.
WHile interesting, does this statment indicate that it uses the "proven M-16 breech locking system" as in it's proven to get jammed easily if dirty or not cleaned well?

Thats pretty much what I took it to mean. I even told myself that my AR-15/ M-16 cleaning kit will be a match fit for that rifle.

The gas mechanism is similar to the Galil design instead of the M-16 type gas system. Supposedly it fires cleaner than the AR-15 types.

I never liked those folding guns. what sorta catch do they have holding them together?
though if it wasnt for the $200 extortion stamp I think I would pick up one of those su-16ds.

I read about guns in US, you guys have aprox,500 000 000 firearms owened by population,!? that means close to 2 guns/person ,More peoples die in US in gunfights than Irak war!?
Are you going to keep those toys in your toolbox? Soo your kids can play with them?
From this point of view, you guys are soo primitive, you didn't get rid of those 200 years old cowboy instincs .

well if we didnt have those Cowboy instincts 200 years ago, this country would be one big liberal euro girlyman paradise, and we would be kinda like you. All filing in dutifully to see Brokeback Mountain.
So I think I keep my guns in my big toybox, and let you sip your wine coolers, and think about your apartments new curtains.

I notice you live in the country next to Serbia. You may recall that they did not have a "cowboy" period, and yet their more highly developed European instincts seem to have resulted in a few Gun Related deaths over the last decade and a half.
It looks like you may need a slightly more complex and universal answer to explain murder than cowboys and a lack of urbane European sophistication. How about oh, I don't know, the universally fallen human nature?

I'm mainly getting it so that the wifey can enjoy plinking with it too. She fired my Mauser this weekend and she couldn't take the recoil. She's enjoying the SKS so I figured the Keltec would be a fun rifle for her also.

Yup. Know whatcha mean about women on big bolt guns. My kid shys away from the big caliber bolties.. even the .308 carbine kicks pretty good.
But big semi's with proper brakes are smooth as butter.. my FAL's recoil is very light indeed... she shucks shells thru it with a real big grin.

You tell him Seagoon!!
Maybe he ought to learn something about a subject before he talks about it and looks silly.
Well a tad late for that really.
Maybe Gun controll is a good thing for the Euros. Hell they have a long history of barbaric wars including both WW1 and WW2. They prolly would be shooting each other over stupid crap with as much booze they consume.

Yeeeeehaawww! Grill me up a steak over the campfire and let's go a-shootin'! If that doesn't sound fun to you, I can only guess that you're a woman...and as such, I'd like to apologize for all the whoopin' and hollerin' ma'am.

I think what it is Sob, is that they neuter all Euro males at puberty.
That would explain the low birth rate too.
And soccer.
And the Finns.
I bet all fins are made with Sperm created in a super secret science facility, in a genetically modified ovary.

Sure! Everybody needs a handgun to fight his way to his rifle.

I did 2 years of military service, 25 years ago, cuz this was the rule here, now is shorter 1 year. Every man at 18-20 has to do it, is not voluntary like there. That service makes us better undestand what for the guns are made.
I prefer punching someone in face after few beers, and forget it 2nd day, than having a gun in my poket in those kind of dizzy situations,
The goal of life is evolution, your gun policy is one step behind,

I don't know who's "neutered" if you need a gun to look more macho

yep ghi... people are so much different now than when guns were invented... the strong never punch the weak in the face now.
We may kill a few citizens a year as free people but it is nothing compared to the slaughter governments commit on unarmed populations.
I would also say that your military service did not teach you what guns are for in the least. You appear to be a slow learner. perhaps... not as.... evolved?

it is a genetic thing I suspect.... ghi's likely one of those sheep/subject euros that can be cowed by the hundreds by one german with an uncocked unloaded mauser and herded into a concentration camp whenever his government decides that where they belong.

Wow, keep making yourself look stupid!
Just because we have the right to own guns does not mean any of us would use it one in bar. See we Americans have self control. When fists are the tool for the job, thats what gets used.
We just have the freedom to arm ourselves if we want.
But keep making yourself look silly. It fun for us.

ghi...
The First Rule of Holes is....when you find yourself in one, stop digging.
You really need to buy a clue.
Besides...what do you care what we do? Whether you live in Romania or Canada, really...what difference does it make to your life?
We'll worry about how we live, you worry about how you live.
As for the really simple idea that guns are the problem, ponder this:
I've known, or been even close, to only one murder in 40 years. My neighbor killed his wife. He owned a huge pile of guns. When he decided to off his wife...he stabbed her to death. No gun...knife.
Show me how the guns are responsible? On second thought, don't. Just think about the idea...
As for kids, I have two words: Gun Safe.
