A friend of mine for a while now has been kicking his Chief Pilot to see me for a few months now. They're going to have a spot opening up soon (weeks) so they called me in. I interviewed on Friday.
After a little covert recon on behalf of my (captain) buddy he returned my phone call with the words "Impressed" "Bright Kid" and "Fit Right In" were used to describe me :D
I've been doing a happy dance now for a few days and yet somehow my contract work has picked up the pace so I'm still busy. Thought I'd share a picture of my new ride (at least the same type). I haven't heard back about the custom paint scheme yet, however.
No word on when I go to school but things are certainly looking up and I'm getting to work on packing!

Great news, Golfer. Finally you get to cruise the upper flight levels. Nice job. The Citation may not be the most glamourous jet but it's a jet after all.
I've set my sights on this particular one for the future unless an airline job falls in my lap. Same as you, it depend on a word in the right ear. But I already know the chief pilot.

Let us know how you get on with the type rating.

The Ultra and Encore are nothing to sneeze at. Ultra climbs like crazy and the Encore just has everything about it right.
Not typed right off the bat I go for a 135 SIC check at Flight Safety and am typed when I'm ready to upgrade.
Ever since I was a line guy I've wanted to fly 500 series Citations. I've had my hands on the controls of an Ultra on a Mx flight and rode in the back of the same bird on another Mx flight. I like the way they look, I like the way they fly and I like the smell of jet fuel in the morning. Smells like...victory!:t

Damm my picture doesn't seem to work. Oh well. I do like the Citations though. Ok the Lears and Gv's are more glam. But there is something about a Citation!

Yes that's the way it works in the outfit I'm interested in. Usually the SIC is a full time instructor who gets pulled in when charters happen. Eventually they get a type rating and move up to command. The aircraft are N registered to avoid the Euro BS regulations so all the pilots must be FAA rated.
I was talking to one Citation pilot recently. Telling me about the terrible life  he leads. Forced to spend time in five star hotels in awful places like the the South of France, Southern Spain and Greece. He was smiling so I don't entirely believe him!
