I would suggest sticking with what you know, because business models and how it all works obviously isn't in your repertoire.
You are playing WW2Onlie now, go fill their BBS with silly comments.
-
I bet he has anot CPID in a few weeks seeing as how he keeps posting here. OR IS HE A SPY FOR WW2OL!? zOMFGG!GG@!:O
-
Actually, I haven't noticed this mass exodus of which you speak.

Like, 20, out of like almost 6000. So?
-
21 fellas =mass exodus?
-
I've tried WW2OL with a trial account. However, I was never able to get to the real game (just some WWW-pages, and then some error). I decided not to try it after all, and that was in 2003. Too much hassle over petty dollars - no thanks.
-
Granted, 'Combat Tour' is giving the game a hit causing things to become a little stagnant, it will be all worth it when CT comes out.
I haven't seen people leaving... besides, WW2OL is a pig hardware wise. Not to mention WW2OL is a different game appealing to a different audience.
-
No free trial, I couldnt be bothered with it. If they dont have enough faith in the sim to give you that, its not worth it imho. Looks like just a furball with less planes anyways, who cares about driving a truck.

Not that I have any idea what I am speaking about here....... but here is what I think........
There is a natural progression for players in this as well as any other game. Players go through a natural cycle..... Birth, Life and then finally Death. The time frame for this to take place is different for everyone. I made it around 4-5 years before I finally came to grips with the fact that the game was dead for me. I think the players personality type has alot to do with how long it takes for perminate burn out to take hold. I for one am (at times anyway) wound fairly tight so I didnt last as long as others.......
The point is that the number of players who leave AH is most likley fairly stable. In the 5 years that I have been here I do not recall any mass Exodus.
How many new players come to AH is a reflection on how well HTC promotes thier product.
As to your original comment though I must say that I recently saw something that caught my attention with regards to Aces High. After moving to Falcon 4 from AH I began to read SimHQ forums and articles. For those who dont know about SimHQ you should..... check it out http://www.simhq.com/
They recently had a "Best of 2005" thingy going (I am to lazy to find the link right now) and they had a "best online gameplay" category. AH didnt even make the list. Hmmmm..... Make your own judgements here.....
FWIW, Falcon4 AF won the flight sim of the year title beating out Lock On FLamming Clifs.

AH doesn't need any saving. There is nothing wrong with the game, it is a niche game that has a very stable gaming population and subscriber base. But you're just a kid fresh out of Jr. High and really know nothing about the gaming industry, so it's really not surprising you don't really understand the business side of the MMOG world. Have fun in WW2OL, I'm sure the game is more your speed.
ack-ack

Guys! Dont be too harsch with the dweeb, the last three TODS he flew he had miserable results.
He probably HAD to switch to WW2OL, with easier FMs and less skilled online pilots.
Try to UNDERSTAND! :D

Lan, if you havent noticed, there are also people who switched from WWIIOL to AH. And lots of people who pay and play both....
Ive been in AH few years now, people come and go and it is normal. Nothing unusual here....
-
I have WWIIOL and Aces High.
WWIIOL is what it says on the tin - a world war 2 simulation. If you like "immersion" (being bored for long periods of time pretending you are a RL tanker in your waffen ss uniform) then play it - I say tanker because the aircraft are not worth a damn compared to ah.
If you want a fun air war with a great community then play AH. They are different games for different moods.
p.s. the Tiger in wwiiol is friggen incredible... PEOWWWWW!
-
bang bang, my tanx did more damage to youre tanx!!!!
peow peow, bang bang bang
you like the pointy clicky preteen dweebs that like to play gay shootem ups be our guest. its nice to get rid of all you squeakers anyway lol
-
Seems to me the numbers here in AH are up....
if that's the mass exodus you speak of....well a few more wont hurt....lol
-
oh i forgot, the Destroyers there are great fun - better have a lot of time to spare though, Sea War and Land War is on a different level to Aces High; but they are entirely different games. I cannot play WWIIOL for very long without getting extremely bored, AH can keep me going for hours on end.
The historical gunsights and bombsights are quite good too, in blenheim you have to look at the dials, check speed/alt, calibrate using the two sliders and watch as they adjust the aiming point. The range settings on the german tank sights (and later allied types) is good, graphics are superb too - i absolutely love it when you nail a tank and the turret comes off, or pop an 88 into some poor little frenchy's head and all you see is a red/black smoke puff.
The ideal game would be a combination of Aces High air war and WWIIOL ground/ship war (although the choice in wiiol for boats is limited to a fishing boat, freighter or DD).
-
furby, you seen Navy Field (http://www.navyfield.com)
graphics aren't so great, but the gameplay is really fun. you build your own ship, and the training and interface is fairly easy to get into. quite fun if you're bored

WWIIOL is the biggest POS thats ever been released as a MMOG. The numbers in the arenas have been pretty strong here, and I see new faces all the time. Why come in here and try to stir up *****? You dont even play AH anymore.
