Look in the main directory of the CD and look for a file called AWSheep.avi or something like that and watch it.  Nice little easter egg put in by the Kesmoids.

<---Still has his original 1992 (or was it '93?) 1.04 SVGA Air Warrior on three 3.5 floppies, with the manuals, but the box is gone unfortunately.

That B&W frame rate at the start of that flick is still about 4 times faster than the frame rate on the Mac AW 1.0 back in '87 ... and has 254 more shades of grey.

I've got that one as well, Grits...I think it was late '92 or early '93 as my
GEnie credit card bills started about Feb of '93.

I've got the box as well as a couple of subsequent releases. I'll have to
dig them out and take some digital shots of them :)

I think my #4 computer on my lan here still has the last version of
AW on it....probably have a bunch of films and scenario stuff as well.

Ah, those were the days!

I still remember the first time I started up AW ever. I flew offline and remember thinking that this game sucked, all the planes looked like grey coffins with wings on them. How little I knew. :)

Hehe... I still have the box too :)
I have every boxed version of AW there ever was, with updates. I haven't been able to use AW because it won't recognize any of the modern day joysticks... as far as I know.  I have the Saitek X45 and a Logitech 3D in the closet.
Anyone know a way to work around that, and don't say use the keyboard LOL.

I've been able to run Air Warrior III on my present-day computer without trouble.  I've had some problems with earlier versions of Air Warrior.

I think it was 92 Grits. I remember I was actually paying long distance charges to play it. I was ready to quit because of the cost............... Then they added a little color to the usually all grey airplanes. It kept me on another month , then it got to be AW or Divorce......................

You know I never missed her all that much.

I was long distance too, $6 hr for GEnie and $7 hr for the LD, so I paid an hour basically what I pay for an entire month of AH. :)

LOL exactly.  It was such a cool experiance after playing Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe , Aces of the Pacific , Aces over Europe, and other sims. To actually be able to fight other people on-line was unbelievable. I was hooked , but had to give it up until 1997 when I started playing Warbirds.

I think my AW number back in 93 was 3486, my handle was Jager. I was in JG3 with Drum for a bit before I had to quit. Then my first day in Warbirds I run into Drum, and his new squad JG51. I finnally made it to AH in 2001. Flying these planes on-line has always been a blast no matter what the sim. They just keep getting better.:aok  Too bad my eyesight, and hand eye coordination doesn't upgrade too.;)

Not to mention the people who'd sign on at the end of a campaign during prime time ($12/hr!!!!!!) to milk-run for extra points.

I really wish I still had screens of old Mac AW ... it was so totally stone age compared to what we have now.

I re-installed AW III and used one of the  joystick setups that sees my X45 and used the generic rudder, so far so good, but none of the choices for throttle work for me, what did you choose to make it work?
I don't have the update patch installed, I haven't found the CD it's on yet LOL, I wonder if there's anything in that patch?

Brooke download and extract to win system32 folder "WinG32" and change to 256 colors and it should run. I still havent figured out the joystick yet but I bet its just a game port driver.

I have the box versions of AW4W and AWII.  Have the CDs and sleeves from AWIII and AWMV.  That and a hard drive full of films, manuals and extra junk from my last year or so.

I've loaded SVGA DOS 1.5, AW II  and AW III on my XP Pro box here.

 I've got an X-45 setup.

For AW II I selected FLCS and TM WCS II. I loaded a default basic
profile into the X-45 and it worked fine. The throttle is seen OK and
the rudder maps to the rocker.

For AW III, I selected X-35F and X-35T and used the simple profile
on my X-45. Again, everything worked OK. I only programmed a few
functions into the profile... ";" for gear toggle, "7" for WEP, "b" for
 bomb release.
I set the #1 hat to "buttons" and programmed the view swithes using
 the keypad 4,8,6,2, 5, 4+8, 6+8 , etc.

I haven't tried getting the DOS SVGA running with the X-45 yet but I did
fly a mission with the mouse.

I also had a look at a few of my films from years gone by. I have one
from 1993 featuring HT but haven't watched that one yet :)

Of all the things in AW that I miss the most, it's the film and screen shots of the "last day"

Some former CM who will go unamed at this point (Blesk you moke lol) gave out privs to anyone he could find and were wreaking havoc on the masses as others tried to have a final flight lol   was nuts.  I remember Flossy, Culero, Spiffy and I, among a few others spending a great deal of time searching players privs and removing them instead of flying the last day If memory serves lol

Had a Europe and a US massive Good By Flight over the course of the final day and a hard drive failure a couple of years ago tossed the files.

I still have about a dozen scenario patches stored away somewhere, a Gamestorm Hat, Tshirt, Computer Repair Tool Kit, and a few other pieces of memorabelia laying around.  I've still got the Gamestorm CD and MV on cd.

Oh, and my Airwarrior hat.  I got that after that sad attempt at an air race with the Dago Red guy.  If DOSE had any hair left, he pulled it out that night.  Was alot of fun though.  :)

in AW. I started with AW on AOL

Flew with the Iron Dogs, and later had a short stint with "the Grey Ghosts" and eventually ended up with "The 352 Pale Riders"

Handle I started with and stayed with for a while was the game issued  "qg123" ( just never botherd to change it)

Then for a good while I was known as "PORNO" till they said I couldnt have it any longer reason that was given me was someone called and whined about it because their kid wanted to know what PORNO ment and they didnt think they should have to explain it to them. (lmao if not the parent to explain it then who?)

Anyway. thats when I switched to probably my most known handle of
"/IT\" Which is still the handle I would prefer but when I joined up here they wouldnt let me have it and to get it now would mean either opening a new account which I plan on doing in the future so my son and I can fly together or loosing all my perks and such in this one.

Squads I most remember seeing in AW are AOS (Ace of Spades)
"Widow Makers" and the  "MOTS" (lmao)

There is a free environment called "dosbox" that I've used.  It's a DOS emulator.  Details are here:

Hah.....Howdy ZENMS....from an old Sea Serpent.  Still a few of us around (Frwy, Ranger66, Liaka) we merged with the Nazgul when AW died out.

Edit: Smaug and Hg were here for a few months but have since left.
