Title: Windows Calculator
Post by: Hawklore on January 30, 2006, 11:24:16 AM
Anyone else have problems with the Windows calculator?

It seems to do math before I tell it to..

Like,

85x2=170+20=190+140=330x20%=66-330=

When I hit - on 66 it gives me, 21,780

Is it due to the fact that I'm not hitting clear after every single problem?

No matter what I do, hitting clear dosn't seem to help..

Virus? User Error? Windoes is a POS?

Anyone have a downloadable customizable calculator I can use on the computer?

Cause whenever I drag a calculator over to the computer I get a, Use the computers calculator, leave it in the kitchen, etc.

C clears the last entry. CE (clear everything) clears the entire memory and gets it ready for a new problem.

i can actually recreate this on the win calc on my win2000 pc here at work.

BTW the error seems to be it calculating 66 X 330 instead of subtracting.

i can compound the error into the millions also.

Bah; I always click em both anyway.

I can reproduce it, but I've noticed that happens on all calculators; I've never been able to use the % button and anyways just manually do it.

For some reason It does it to me even after I hit C and CE..

Backspace tends to help though..

i got it to reproduce your problem.

it's something to do with the way it figures %.

if you skip that and just do x .20 instead of x 20% it doesn't have a problem.

I didn't find it the first time because I automatically did the .20 myself, I never use the % key anyway.

ok, back to user error again.

following your equation you suckered me in to making your same mistake.

after you get 330, you can either enter -

 x .20

or  20%

to get 20% of 330.

you entered 330 x 20%

330 X (20% of 330) or 66

when you hit the next function ( - ) it finishes the last one and solves the problem so far

330 X 66 = 21,780

your calculator works fine
