Ok, heres the deal'e'o..
Codemasters as the scum of they earth they are, are holding Operation Flashpoint as a trademark and holding it hostage from BIS.
BIS is now coming out with Armed Assault, an updated Operation Flashpoint.
And then, Flashpoint 2 apparently coming later down the road..
This is confusing..Which one is OpFP2?
ArmA or FP2?
help me!!!

Think of AA as OFP1.5, not 2.
-
I just wished they would release either bloody one!

H1 2006 is release date..
Whatever H1 stands for..
So, who's gonna pick up OFP 1.5?
I'm playing BF2 going, ooh only if this would let me do roadside attacks without bloody M1A1 abrams!!
Also, anyone have any tips on making a mission and being on the defensive, and not knowing where the badguys are coming from when you make the mission in OPFP?
H12006 stands for 1st Half of 2006.
Or atleast in this news article it does.

Armed Asualt is the BIS version i.e. the real OFP...
the OPF 2 by codemasters was developed by a new developer....
between the 2 Armed Asualt is the one you want
if you want you can pick up VBS1 and all the modules and join us on the SES server check the site for details http://www.gogodot.net/ofp.html
Cheers

Thanks for invite...
But I'd have to re-install OPFP
And honestly, I don't feel like doing it.
Plus, it's like $300.00 for all those modules and ****.

This is just from memory Hawk, as I dont even have opFlash installed at the mo....but try this.
When you place the enemy group there should be a field you can fill in called 'radius' or something similar.
The figure you put in here determines how far from the actual waypoint the unit can be.
IE, place enemy unit, put 2km in as radius, and when you start the game, that enemy unit will be somewhere within a 2km radius circle from the point you placed them.
Use 50km instead of 2, and they could be anywhere on the map.\
Works for all waypoints, so you could set up a patrol route with a radius of 5km on each waypoint, and you will end up with a unit that you have no real idea where they will be coming from or going to.
There is another field with 'probability of presence' or something similar, this one determines the likelyhood of the unit actually being in the scenario at all, ....a 50% probability unit will show up only about half the times you load the game.
With large radius waypoints, probability of presence fiddled with, and perhaps a trigger or two directing units to out of sequence waypoints, and you end up in a situation where the player has no way of knowing where, when, how many or even if the enemy will show up, even though they made the mission themselves.
Large radius Search and Destroy waypoints work wonderfully for adding 'randomness' to a mission.
Units with their own transport, set to a 'Guard' waypoint and 'Open Fire, Engage at Will' will travel the whole length and breadth of the map to respond to any sighting of their enemy (ie, You or your little digital buddies),if they are placed with a large radius at their initial waypoint, you wont have any idea where they are starting from, and therefore very little idea about which direction they will approach your position from.
Hope that helps :)

i cant wait for either version!
as long as the still include the advanced and superb mission editor then it will be a huge hit.

Interestingly.......if you go to the codemasters OFP2 site and look at the press release you'll see this sentance:
"Operation Flashpoint 2 is now in development at Bohemia Interactive Studio, the Prague-based creators of the original game, and will be published by Codemasters in late 2004 for the PC."
So a) they're lying about the developer and b) they've kinda missed the deadline.
