Hi-Tech needs to fix this problem...It happened to me 2 times last night..I'm fighting some Dweeb, shoot him down and he does this alt f4 thing or whatever it is and I get no kill!!
-
Be patient... it takes a while, but you will eventually get the kill if you either
a. were closest to him when he pulled the plug (i.e. proximity kill)
or
b. actually shot bullets into his plane.
I have seen kills pop up almost a minute (a guess...it seemed like a long time) after someone pulled the plug. The only reason I knew it was that individual was I hadn't engaged anybody else yet during that flight. What I don't know is what happens if you get shot down before you get credit for the kill.
-
Also check your kill stats. There's been times before I've gotten credit on a kill WITHOUT seeing the "You shot down ."
-
Thanks guys!!!!
-
And spread thsi around...several guys in ine squad seem to use this as a regulary escape technique in buffs, apparently thinking they're protecting scores.
Nothing probabaly frustrates me more than clawing up to 15K , setting up and attack, and seeing the buffs vanish -- especially since teh guys doing it think they're helping themselves.
Give yourslef a chance to kill me, and give me a chance to kill you!

anyone who cheats in a game anywhere in life will never win anything and feel good.
pulling the plug is very weak indeed, not only does it not help your score, but it makes every one who ever possibly would have been impressed by your score, pity you.
-
On a side note, the "SE" twits seem to jack the plug every time I saddle up or kill them. Irritating.
-
Two things.
First is to feel sorry for any poor sap that is that worried about his score, or preventing a kill that he does that.
Second, take a quick look at how much it bothers you and remember it is still just a game. Who cares about your score :)

This happened last night to me as well. Some lala dork was flying around above 10k looking for easy picks and I nailed him with 2 30mm in the cockpit and left wing... right before he exploded he disappeared. No kill message or anything. I was kicking myself that I didn't have film running cause it was probably some score potato trying to pad his stats at the beginning of the tour.
Every month this crap happens. When the new tour starts all the dweebs are in lalas and tempests, buzzing around and only looking for the easiest kills. So much as a hint of an even fight and they run like Paris Hilton in a slasher flick, screaming for help.

Hammer is right. If you deserved the kill on a disco'd player, it will eventually register (within 1-2 minutes). Ive had it happen many times. From my experience if you only would have deserved an assist on the disco'd player you dont get any system message.

Assuming you can stay up for 2 more minutes

When you're turnfighting a bunch of sissyfires on the deck in a 109 and you pop off some twit's wing and he jacks the plug... there's a good chance you won't be around in 1-2 minutes when that kill shows up. Stuff like that is why I film anything and everything... if I don't get the kill, at least I can publicly berate you.

Actually, i always thought so as well. But recently ive had strange "dissapearences" happening, without getting a kill. One for example was a set of buffs, as i was about 600 out, the drones suddenly vanished, i never got a proxy on them.
And just a few days back i was fighting a Pony with Gianlupo. We *both* scored hits on him, i even took off a few parts. Suddenly he just went flying into the ground at a 45° angle, no explosion anything. Waited if hed just warped throught the ground, but he never came back up. I was flying for a solid 15 mins afterwards, neither Gian nor me ever got a kill or assist on that guy. No idea if the guy altF4ed, discoed, whatever or if maybe it was an AI gone haywire....
So yes, i think there is something strange going on sometimes, but hey, does one single kill really matter that much in the whole picture of "suckage"?

May be he fall into prolonged warp (on purpose or not), turn away and fly far enough before connection restored. You can lost him agains ground, he go home and land/ditch.

That is possible. I have a film of that situation happening. I was shooting at the guy, he disappeared into the ground, and he later reappeared over 4k away 30 seconds later.

I just wanted to point out that there are strange things happening sometimes. I just blame the little internet bugs ;).

Finally someone uses terminology that I can understand!

Sounds like other's might be using the "Standby Button" on the Cable Modem trick that "someone" was using.
<> Murdr, you and I are alike, we just wanna a good 1 vs 1.

Thems kills in my book...who cares what the scoreboard says, because those that depend on such sillyness never learn from their mistakes, and hence spend a whole lotta time reaching for that button.
-
I bet they are AI airplanes that are secretly being tested by HT and friends.
I had a similar experience as Schatzi. Was frustrating cause it started at 15k and went to deck with no kill.
-
No, Parin, it wasn't an AI, it was a player.
Just like Wetrat, I record every session I made, so when I read Schatzi's post I digged the film directory (I remember that Freejagd with Rooks :) ) and watched the movie I shot.
The guy disappeared but I did have an assist, almost immediately, I just didn't notice it. Maybe you got that kill Schatzi... we just have to improve our SA! :p
