Title: Help: 109G-14
Post by: 1K3 on February 02, 2006, 07:12:52 PM
Is 109G-14 lighter than 109G-6?  It was said that 109G-14's whole tail unit is made of wood.  Since G-14's tail is made of wood i assume that 109G-14 is lighter than G-6.

Wood comes in all weights and density, depending on what type they used it would be lighter Or heavier.......

The tail itself was never wooden, but rather the stab on the tail, and I have no clue about the rudder.

IF it saved any weight, it wasn't much.

Plus there's some added weight from the MW 50 installation.

G6 series also introduced wooden structure in the tail to save on the use of aluminum.  The 109G14's tail is taller.... go figure, maybe it is heavier.
